The rooms are partly furnished in a traditional way, partly in a modern zeitgeist style and offer individual equipment. Antiques and design elements mark the atmosphere of the room.

Approach:

If you are using a navigation system, please enter "Kajetanerplatz" (not Kaigasse) as your destination. There you will find the moving bollards, to enter to the old town!

The acces to the city of salzburg changed from the control of barriers to the control of moving bollards.

On entering the street you can find a interphone on the left side. Press the button Kasererbräu. You will be connected to the reception of our hotel, who will give you an access code. After entering the code the bollard is going down and you can enter the street.

“Great breakfast buffet”

Traveled to Salzburg with my husband and our two small children for a long weekend. Loved this hotel - great location, good service, fantastic breakfast buffet. We had a large two storey room so the kids had their own area. Very spacious. The furniture in the room was a bit dated and a little ragged, but very clean and comfortable. My only complaint was that the hallways smelled like stale cigarette smoke.

“A location that can't be beat”

A main reason I booked this hotel was the location, as it is in Old Town just around the corner from the cathedral. But there are so many reasons for staying here - the history of the hotel building, its charm, comfort and the quality of service. I was very pleased and would stay here again.

Area recommendations

Salzburg is an easy city to do on foot. I chose to stay in Old Town and was close to all the sites with a quick cab ride to the train station.

“2 Star Hotel That Pretends to be a 4 Star”

This hotel has been in existence for more than 300 years, unfortunately they have let the hotel become run down and shabby. Wifi is available in one area in the lobby and it works poorly, there is no air conditioning and no ventilation, the cafe is closed, the breakfast buffet food is adequate but they have the buffet located in a room so small that there isn't enough room for their guests. The Expedia ad states they offer parking, but they don't or if it exists it was not made available when we asked. We had to park more than 4 blocks away and pay public parking fees. The staff's attitude is indifferent and unhelpful. Overall, one of our worst hotel experiences while traveling in Europe.

“Salzburg's most perfect location”

Centrally located in the Old Town - yet amazingly quiet! - this hotel has charm and convenience. The rooms are comforatble and clean, the bathrooms large and sparkling. The breakfast buffet is superb with an abundance of fresh fruits and a wide selection of delicious hot and cold dishes; the service is discreet yet attentive; the staff knowledgeable and helpful. It provides electric cycles, has a great restaurant and even has its own cinema. It's also remarkable value. Out of 10 I would award this place a mighty 9.5. RichardF.

The Old Town is quite special.

Getting around

Use the local bus service - forget excursions! - they're comfortable, quick and cheap, and very easy to negotiate.

“A Good Week”

The hotel is very central to Salsburg and most of the town's features can be reached by walking a short distance. The room we had was spacious and clean with good storage faciliries. The staff were helpful and communicated in several languages which helped us as we had no german facility.

Area recommendations

Lake St. Wolfgang is very attractive and contains many good restaurants.

When to go

The summer is best, but they have a very interesting Christmas Market every year.

“Mid-winter visit”

The hotel was a comfortable place to come back to after a day of touring the city. Centrally located meant you were only a few minutes away ever. The staff was exceptional (especially Geza) helping recommend places for dinner or drinks, getting taxi's, even helping us be able to watch an American football playoff game. The rooms and furniture are average quality but the location and staff make the difference.

“Still a great hotel”

Second same we have stayed here. Room very comfortable and cosy, staff friendly, and breakfast good. Oh and the hotel is beautifully decorated for Christmas. Very close to the Old Town and Christmas markets, really good location. Save yourself a taxi fare, get a no 2 bus from the airport to the banhof (bus station), a number 8 or 25 from the Banhof and get off at the 2nd stop after the bus crosses the river. Hotel is a 5 minute and very easy walk.

“Great location”

The hotel is very convenient to the main tourist attractions near the Mozartplatz. It is quieter than staying on the Getreidegasse which is the main pedestrian street. However, our double room consisted of two twin beds pushed together with hard wooden frames around each bed. The room was spacious and the bathroom large. Breakfast was substantial. Overall, I would recommend this hotel.

Area recommendations

I would stay in the Old City section not across the river near the Mirabel Palace since the main sights are within walking distance of this hotel and section.

Getting there

We flew into Munich and had a car service/van take us to Salzburg. After a long flight, it was easy to let someone else drive us to the hotel and and not deal with train transfers, etc.
