Original room (101)was depressingly decorated (dark blue) with little natural light. The mattresses were incredibly hard and we both suffered backache; so much so that I commented the following morning and, credit where credit is due, the receptionist immediately apologised and suggested a room change. (Apparently the mattresses were brand new, but nonetheless, still solid.)
We were moved to room 500. An absolutely delightful room. The room was larger, the bed was comfortable and the decoration, a pleasingly neutral light colour.
The bathroom was considerably larger than the first room and well appointed.
The upgrade made all the difference between a mediocre stay and an enjoyable one.
From the moment we arrived we fell in love with the hotel and the location it was in. The rooms were lovely with beautifiul views of the mountains. The rooms were cleaned and beds made every day. The staff were extremely friendly and were extremely helpful when we needed to obtain a wheelchair for one of our party who had had a fall on the first day. They phoned round to find out where we could get a wheelchair and then provided us with the details. We loved the breakfasts and the selection and variety was wonderful. I can't speak highly enough of the hotel and staff and we will certainly be returning. If you are going to the Salzburg area I would highly recommend the Hotel Sallerhof
This hotel was a wonderful experience! The view is incredible because it is set on a lush, green hill overlooking the city of Salzburg. We arrived in early November so the trees were dressed in their beautiful fall colors. The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful in meeting all of our needs. Because the farmhouse is over three centuries old, it comes with the creaks of an old house as well as creative craftsmanship all over. Breakfast every morning left us very satisfied, and the dinner we had at the restaurant one night was very delicious! If we ever make the trip back to Salzburg, we will definitely stay here again!
Fully renovated first class quality. Everything was brand new and updated to the latest standard. Rooms were super clean and generous and the bathroom quality was easily at 5 star level. In general this hotel easily beat anything I ever had in a US four star hotel - and most 5 stars. Staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. Breakfast layout is amazing - you can basically use it for brunch (open until 10:30 helps too, all you can eat) and have a fantastic meal - which also really helps keeps the place at an very reasonable price level. The restaurant has an excellent Austrian menu and the quality of the food is superb / 100% authentic Austrian. The price /value relationship is unbeatable.

Pretty spot in the country. Spacious rooms that have all modern amenities including a full kitchen. Friendly, knowledgeable hosts that made us feel at home. Great setup with a separate bedroom for our daughter. Great breakfast and coffee all day. Easy access to the city using public transport. Highly recommended
