“A brilliant Hotel!!!”

We had a great experience with Pestana Hotel. Salvador is a big city so it's difficult to find a hotel that is close to everything.. It's located in Rio Vermelho, which is not far from the most famous beaches, historic center and touristic places. The manager "Luis" is brilliant and was very kind helping us to obtain a transfer. From the hotel we went on 2 excursions that we loved: one to know the islands of Itaparica and Frades (on a boat with live music of great Samba / Pagode music) and the other one to know Praia do Forte and the Tamar Project (where they look after the little turtles). It was beautiful.

Area recommendations

The best beaches in Salvador are on "Litoral Norte" which is far from central Salvador(probably from 40-70km from city center) i.e.: Praia do Forte, Vilas do Atlantico..

“Comfortable place”

I have been to Bahia many times as my wife is from there. We have stayed at the Orthon hotel in the past and wanted to try something different. The expedia price for Pestana was excellent (as we got the 4th night free) and because we booked through Expedia we received internet access for free. Everything else at the hotel was expensive i.e. drinks, food, etc. We limited our expenses to the free breakfast, free valet parking and gym (which was not all that bad as hotel gyms go) and stocked our frig with grocery bought beers and sodas. The area around the hotel is looked pretty run down but we had a car and other places to go, so it did not make a difference. Beautiful views of the ocean! All in all it was a good hotel. Lots of business men coming and going, and a lot of evening events like weddings, parties, etc... so it was pretty active.

“Above average Hotel”

Hotel seemed to be a great hotel... many years ago. Nowadays, they still try to provide you with 5-star hotel services (people are very friendly and useful) but the infrastructure is not so up-to-date (eg., old gym, old bathrooms, could hardly get internet in the room, connection was bad because it was one of the last rooms in the corridor). View: great over the sea Food: average (and expensive) Personnel: very friendly and helpful It is hard to say whether I would go back to this hotel but probably not. There are other hotels just nearby that are probably much cheaper.

“Not impressed. Very impersonal service.”

Hotel requires maintenance. Towels like sandpaper. The personnel at the swimming pool area did not pay attention to the misbehavior or rowdy and tipsy group drinking and smoking in the swimming pool itself. The breakfast terrace lacked personnel and the service was deficient. Hotel rooms were comfortable, Views were excellent of the ocean,.Hotel had no beach area..The buffet in the restaurant was excellent... Front desk personnel were efficient, polite but not very friendly. Bellhops were friendly and speedy. Taxi service was available, but be careful when travelers have to leave for the airport on a Sunday morning..Taxis can be a problem..

“Salvador”

The Hotel was nice with desk personnel who could speak English. The suit was spacious and comfortable. Food in the restaurant was good. Workout room and pool were also nice. Overall a very nice place to stay that is centrally located in the city.
