Beautiful property, lackluster staff
The hotel itself is very nice with gorgeous wood floors and nice small touches throughout. It’s located very central in walking distance for most destinations in Salta. We found the breakfast to be lacking as it was a few pastries and watery yogurt. Most importantly, the front desk staff seemed annoyed by any question we asked whether it be about our stay at the hotel or a recommendation. The main guy at the front desk was generally too busy to help us and made us feel like a burden. When we asked for a nice coffee shop to grab breakfast their best suggestion was Havana aka the Starbucks of Argentina when there are plentiful cafes and coffee shops nearby.

When I travel to Salta, this is where I stay. 2-3 blocks from some great restaurants and bars, including the best burger I've ever had in Argentina!

Bait and switch
The hotel offers a very good relationship between quality and price. The pool and garden are especially attractive. My gripe concerns the room I was initially assigned. I booked a standard double and was, without comment, shown to a very small room. After a few hours I checked my reservation, the listing on hotels.com, and the hotel's own web site. My room was nothing like the 22 square meter room advertised as a standard double on hotels.com. Instead it was clearly the "double small" listed only on the hotel's own site. I complained. The desk agent on duty that evening said I was correct, that nothing could be done that night, but that I could move the following day (lots of fun to pack and unpack again). The following morning the desk agent claimed that my room was a standard double (this made me mad) but could switch me anyway. I moved to a more spacious room that corresponded to what was advertised as a standard double on hotels.com and the hotel's own web site. At check-out I requested compensation for the smaller room and was given 250 pesos (about US$4). I don't know if this was fair or a few pennies tossed my way to get rid of me. I note that the hotel has now switched around pictures on the web and shows a photo of the postage stamp room as a "standard double." In addition: internet connection is poor and the sinks in both rooms contained hairs of unknown origin. Watch out!

Characterful friendly hotel
Lovely little hotel with character and charm. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was on the small side but probably as we'd asked for an early check in which is fair enough. Breakfast was a bit on the sparse side but there were some lovely pastries. Would definitely return, the communal garden and pool area is a lovely place to sit for a few hours.

Friendly staff and good value for money. Lots of restaurants and bars close by. The air conditioning in our room didn’t work very well and the breakfast wasn’t great, wWouldn’t recommend for longer stays

Rooms were upgraded and modern and clean with nice views of pool area. Parking very secure. Staff friendly. Our only complaint would be there were no screens on the windows. When we needed air at night the mosquitoes got in.

Quaint in Salta
This is a really quaint Spanish style cosy hotel. Beaut little architectural features. The desk staff all spoke English and we're most helpful. Only 5 - 10 min walk to town square. A great place to stay.

Great location, close to nice bars and restaurants. Quick and easy check-in. English speaking staff at front desk. Breakfast with fresh orange juice and they even made me some eggs which is not common in the Carb loaded Argentinian breakfast. Internet was good and loved the outdoor area around the pool to chill and do a bit work. Don't expect a new hotel but this is very good value for money. Anytime again.

Great staff and super location
La Candela is very quant and quiet but still close to the action. The pool and garden area is a big plus. Rooms are comfortable and clean. The staff is super!!

Lovely boutique hotel
I stayed at Hotel Candela and the service was excellent from the point of check in to check out. The hotel is small, in a good way, with a lovely courtyard area with a swimming pool. The hallways, the lobby, the kitchen, the cute living room area, all are well decorated with local art and it made the ambiance very pleasant and welcoming. My room was large and clean and the bed was comfortable. You can get much better deals in the city, but I enjoyed staying there for one evening.

Charm, comfort and value...a rare combination!
This charming little hotel had everything my husband and I were looking for: central location, quiet street, warm and efficient staff, well-appointed room with bath and comfortable bed, pool, air conditioning and heating, secure parking, WiFi and a very nice continental breakfast. Their little garden is charming, with outdoor seating close to the pool. The price was quite reasonable as well. We are definitely going to stay there again when we return to Salta. I've rarely had a more pleasant stay, and we were there for four nights.

A gem in a city center
Quiet, clean and comfortable accommodation in a walking distance to the main plaza and most turist attractions. Beautifully mainatined court yard with a small swimming pool - a perfect retreat during hot siesta hours! Helpful and friendly staff. Made our stay in Salta really enjoyable.

A gem of a hotel.
This is a wonderful hotel, beautifully decorated with interesting pictures and artefacts. The staff cannot be praised enough for their helpful, friendly and efficient manner. The rooms we had were both extremely comfortable and roomy enough. Breakfast was not buffet-style, but a nicely served meal at a steady pace. The hotel does not have a restaurant for evening meals. We stayed two nights and on the second night we just wanted a snack but did not want to go out. The receptionist offered to phone for some takeaway food which we accepted, and the hotel provided drinks to go with it and we ate in the breakfast room. There is a lovely swimming pool and relaxing area with tables and comfy chairs by the pool. We stayed in several hotels whilst in Argentina and this was by far our favourite. We really hope to return next year.

Staff helpful with restaurant recommendations and places to visit in town. The breakfast room and adjoining garden and pool area are lovely. Our room was at the front and a little dark but was perfectly ok. There is secure parking.

An oasis of calm
Salta is a beautiful city and this hotel suits it perfectly. Not right in the centre but close enough to walk it is a serene sophisticated outpost with the most charming staff and the unusual bonus of a garden and pool. Although there is no hotel restaurant there are plenty close by and the hotel will order food in if you would like them to. Good double glazing and very comfortable bed. Excellent wi fi connection. We were entirely satisfied

Nice Salta hotel
La Candela is very tastefully furnished and decorated. The staff at reception were friendly and very helpful. We were able to park our hire car in the secure and spacious garage, which was important as the car hire firm said parking on the street in Salta is not safe. The hotel is centrally located and convenient for restaurants and tourist spots. Our only complaint is that the girl who served breakfast did not tell us what was available and we had to keep asking for things, including milk for cereal, plates and knives! Buffet breakfast would have been better. Nevertheless, we enjoyed it and would stay there again.

Great Little Hotel
This is a very pleasant small hotel close to the centre of Salta. The staff were very helpful recommending a tour company for a day's excursion and letting us use their PC to check in for a flight. The room was spacious and clean.

Hotel is in het centrum, maar toch rustig gelegen. In de tuin kun je heerlijk zitten. Kamer en bedden zijn prima in orde. Ontbijt zoals overal in Argentinië: brood om te roosteren, ham, kaas, jam, dulce de leche, medialunas, zoete yoghurt, cornflakes, fruit, koffie, thee, verse sinaasappelsap, cakes. Dus heel veel zoetigheid. Jammer dat er buiten het ontbijt om geen koffie/theegelegenheid was. De auto kan in een grote garage naast het hotel geparkeerd worden. Receptie spreekt Engels.

Beetje moeilijk te beoordelen. Eerste keer kamer 6 voor 3 nachten. Zeer ruime kamer met twee ruime bedden. Alle aangeprezen voorzieningen klopten en waren aanwezig. Tweede keer weer kamer 6 voor 1 nacht. Alles weer OK. Derde keer weer voor één nacht, maar nu kamer 8. Beduidend kleinere kamer met te klein tweepersoons bed. Voorzieningen uiteraard hetzelfde. Kortom, in deze klasse is dit hotel een aanrader, ligt ook bijzonder goed t.o.v. het centrum, maar zorg dat je niet in kamer 8 terecht komt.
