“Definitely Not Impressed”
Wow, where to start? From the paint-chipped exterior to the dust and spider-web-covered interior, the SLC HoJo's was not just visually unpleasant, but could actually give a guest the creeps. The television set was in a cabinet that was nearer the floor than anything resembling eye-level, not that it was really worth watching. There were only a dozen or so (English) channels, and the channel indicator in the top left corner of screen did not match the one in the lower right corner. The toilet strained to flush, and the sink area was small and crowded. The "continental breakfast" was a joke. A few plastic-wrapped rolls and some dry bagels were about all that was offered. I'd go on, but I've already wasted enough of my time with this dump.
“Exceptionally convenient”
We chose this hotel because it was very competitive in price and for it's free shuttle with the airport. The fact that it was so close to the city centre was a bonus. We had previously stayed at th HO-JO in San Francisco where we were equally impressed.
“Great value”
We stayed here one night as we were flying out of SLC the next day. I have stayed at much nicer hotels, and I have stayed at much worse hotels. Everything was fine during our stay. The rooms were comfortable, and we felt safe staying here. Location was great--It was very close to the airport as well as downtown. The continental breakfast was heavy on the carb side as they only offered cereal, bagels, and pastries.
“close but no cigar”
I picked this hotel because of it's distance to Energy Solutions Arena to save on the cost of parking, Pay for the Parking and stay somewhere else.
“Easy to find, easy to leave”
The location is very convenient to the center of Town and I-15, including the airport. Breakfast was nothing special. The pool was closed for weather reasons that escape me. The room was clean and quiet.
“Not great”
The first thing you notice when you walk into the hotel is the vast proliferation of signs in VERY IRRITATING FONTS. I counted 21 signs around the pool area alone. Each door has at least three warning signs on it, some of which contradict each other, and some of which are redundant. All this makes for a very dingy, low-class feel. The hotel is old, not particularly well-maintained, and not a place that I would really want to stay in again.
“Lovely Stay”
We were surprised at how nice the room was for the money. All the little things were supplied (hair dryer, ironing board, coffee maker, even an inroom safe). Everything was clean and well maintained. This was the first place we've stayed in the past year that I felt comfortable moving right in, putting things in drawers and hanging things up.( I usually live out of my suitcase because I'm a little concerned about what might be in the drawers, etc.) The only possible negative was how early housekeeping started knocking on the door, and I felt a little rushed to check out. But how nice is it that they were so anxious to do their job.
“Convenient to Temple Square & Affordable”
Convenient to Temple Square & Affordable. Adequate breakfast. Door lock malfunctioned but staff very helpful with this. Pleasantly quiet.
“Bad service!”
The rooms were clean but small. The front desk was rude and did not want to help me.
“OK at a huge discount, but not at full price”
Positive: close to the Salt Palace convention center clean overall included continental breakfast, coffee, cappuchino, cocoa, wireless internet evening front desk staff very nice Negative: major construction on the road next to the hotel. floors above the room squeaked. people kept walking back and forth and woke me up in the middle of the night. had to keep the bathroom vent on for white noise. limited breakfast items morning front desk staff not so nice big gap at the bottom of the door. could hear people walking through. rude people stomping on the stairs, banging on the steps and slamming the exit door next to my room
