"A first class business hotel and excellent value"
This is my second stay at the BIBERON Residence - Split and it's beginning to feel like coming home. An attentive manager / owner greets me again and takes the key to personally show me the new room they have reserved for me. Large bathroom, spacious bedroom with best beds I've found on my travels, not just in Split. I have serious back problems and sleep poorly other than in my own bed at home, and now at the BIBERON Residence !!! My previous room had a nice, large, street-facing balcony and of course the air-conditioning is first class. A good size writing desk and comfortable chair is complemented by high-quality, fast and secure wireless broadband internet connection - FREE of charge. The reception desk has helped me many times with printing of documents I have generated during the business meetings, scanning and making copies where necessary.
A small but clean and light dining room serves above average continental-style breakfast and the coffee machine is no slouch when it comes to creating delicious Italian-style coffee. Do not miss the jam-filled croissants freshly baked each morning and still warm when served.
The reception staff is friendly, attentive and helpful, also quite attractive. Parking is readily available on the street and in the forecourt, for free. For a small charge you can park in a secure car-park in the basement of the Hotel. I can recommend this hotel to anybody and have already done so to several friends and colleagues.
I chose the Hotel Dujan based on price and availabilty (I only booked 2 months ahead). The hotel offers reasonable value for money - it's clean, reasonably close to the centre, and the price includes a free buffet breakfast.
I hesitate to recommend the hotel for two reasons:
i# the hotel is a 25 minute walk from the centre of Split, involving a hill climb #on the return journey) which isn't ideal, especially in hot weather. There are no bus routes which go near the hotel either.
ii) a minor point, especially given it's a 2* hotel, is the lack of a fridge in the room so there is nowhere to keep bottles of water cool.

Although I was greeted by a nice lady, I felt weird as soon as I arrived at Rooms Nevenka. The place is not well signed and you have to follow the numbers of the houses as you walk along the street. I was taken to my room, which was actually back up the road (so had to walk back a couple hundred metres), and I was taken into this set of apartments (which actually looked like someone else's house). I was given a nice little room - very clean but very 70s looking and basic - and made sure the door locked properly. I had a tiny single bad (although comfortable) and only one of the channels on the tv worked (so nothing really to do while chilling before bed, ie no background music/talking). It look a few kilometres to walk into town but it was an easy, straight walk there. There is also a convenience store just down the road which was good for getting breakfast/snacks.
I don't really recommend this place as you feel a bit weird there (you have to go into the garden to use the wi fi, it's not available in the rooms) and it's a little out of the way from town (but good if you like a stroll). Nice staff but I only stayed one of the two nights i booked.

If you don't have a lot of money for accommodation and are prepared to walk a little and cook some of your meals, then this guest house is very good value. Beaches and the Old Town are within comfortable walking distance (and a bus to the latter area passes the guest house). Supermarkets are handy. In all, good value.
