“quay value”
We chose the hotel because we wanted to do some plays at the Lowry, which was only a five minute walk away. Also convenient for the Metro for central manchester. The breakfast was a little disorganised, but overall good value.
“Does the basics, quick and easy.”
Hi, For anyone that has stayed in a Holiday Inn Express before you know what to expect - the rooms are identical. Check in and check out are very quick. Free WiFi is in the 'Great Room' (where breakfast is served) only - otherwise you have to pay for access. Car parking is free and Salford Quays metrolink is a 5 minute walk - takes around 20 minutes to Piccadilly station. Taxis are also easy to arrange as there is a phone on the wall next to reception that connects you directly to a local company and the rates were pretty good. For those wanting a quiet night's rest - I had a room at the back which was noisy as it was directly above a large extractor fan (in a large outdoor cage at the back of the kitchen) that was on all night. So if staying here try for a room at the front. However walls aren't that thick and you can hear loud voices etc. in adjacent rooms.
“Very Happy”
We only stayed for 1 night but I wish we had stayed longer. The room was clean and comfortable with a big tv. The staff initially forgot to add a baby cot to our room but this was quickly rectified and we were given complimentary drinks by way of apology (not necessary but very much appreciated!). Will definitely go back again.
“Ok stay”
Poor value for the breakfast, orange juice tasted like squash, poor hot food selection. No bath in the room.
“so, so”
The hotel was hard to find. The route to get to it is a winding pathway. The hotel sits right on a quay. It was rather nice in that. The elevator was archaic surprisingly. The shower in my room had a clogged drain and they didnt fix it for me.
“served its purpose”
we stayed at this hotel for the weekend. The purpose of our trip was to watch manchester united play and to do a stadium tour. The hotel is situated close to the stadium and also the large trafford shopping mall is only a short taxi ride away. There is a vue complex with plenty of places to eat right opposite the hotel. would stay here again. The only downside was that breakfast was a bit manic, but in all fairness to the staff ,they kept refilling the food. The hotel had run out of lager on draft, which meant we had to buy bottles which were very expensive. Overall good place to stay.
“all that you need”
excellent place to stay very clean, and staff very accomodating and helpful
“Everything you need for a city break”
Lovely hotel in very pleasant location with shops and restaurants close by and a convenient tram link into central Manchester only 5 minutes walk away. Free breakfast was a bonus.
“Good location but difficult to find”
The hotel is located close to the Outlet Mall and Lowry exhibition; just a short walk. There are several restaurants at the Mall including Pizza Express and Cafe Rouge. The room was compact but clean and quite adequate for three of us - 1 adult and two teenagers. There was a free breakfast but we didn't realise so ask at check in. Beware - the wi-fi connection is only available by the hour but you have to use it in one block and it's expensive.
“Great location on the quayside”
The purpose of our visit to Manchester was to visit the Lowry Museum and the Imperial War Museum at Salford Quays. The Holiday Inn Express Salford Quays was ideal for this because of it's convenient walking distance location to both museums as well as to restaurants and shopping (much closer than the Ramada). Our room was basic but clean and had everything we needed for a two-night stay. The buffet breakfast was a bit chaotic one morning because a group of visitors who were all leaving on a coach very early were rushing around scoffing up enough food to last them on their journey and possibly for the next week as well! But you can't beat the Holiday Inn Express at Salford Quays for it's great location and bargain price with breakfast thrown in for free. We'll be returning again, hoping for better weather next time.
