“Cheap hotel”
The wifi costs 5 euros to use for an hour, and to swim in the pool you must purchase a swimming cap. There was hair in the bathroom and some trash still on the floors when we checked in. We paid extra to have an oceanside balcony, and found ourselves facing perpendicular to the coast. They have enough money to have a helicopter landing pad, yet they can't seem to spare certain amenities that even two star hotels offer. It looks nice and fancy from the outside and the lobby, but I was sorely disappointed.
“Good comfortable hotel”
Salerno is a working city so if you want to see how Italians live and work this is for you. This is not currently a tourist city but is a good base to visit the Amalfi coast. The Grand Hotel has a great location near to the beach, train station and shops. We will most certainly return.
“Grand Hotel Salerno”
The Grand Hotel Salerno was excellent - rooms spotlessly clean - breakfast very good - railway station and bus station within 5-7 minute walk.. The bedroom was large and very comfortable. The one frustration we found was that the light in the bathroom was on a timer, and half way through a shower, everything went dark - you either finished the shower in the dark or flapped your hand outside the shower to get the lights to go back on. That was just a minor hiccup rather than a full blown complaint. It's important to know that this is first and foremost a conference hotel so very little English is spoken, but we found that a smile went a long way in receiving very good service. The girls in the dining room and the front desk staff were always very pleasant to us in spite of the language barrier - perhaps because we smiled at them. I was appalled at the way some of the guests treated them - ordering them around with no "please" or "thank you", grumbling about everything - even the weather!! For timetables of buses etc. we went to the Tourist Information Office close to the train station - again, very little English spoken - but we managed to get everything we wanted. Salerno is not a tourist town - it is a "working" city, so if you are expecting a Sorrento, you will be disappointed, but it was good centre to work from. On the other hand, it was great to see the locals going about their daily business, and eating out was very inexpensive if you went to the local Pizzarias.
“Recommended but expensive for the season”
The style and the decor was lovely however extras were very expensive. The veiw from the standard rooms were of a noisy car park which was not attractive as one could imagine. We were disappointed with the veiw and even though there were empty rooms available were told that an upgrade was not possible. This being the case i would recommend booking a room looking towards the bay. Overall a nice hotel within easy walking distance of the town.
“No rest in the Inn”
Hotel was clean and the breakfast was good. The staff was friendly. Our dissatisfaction was with the beds which were extremely firm so no good sleep for us.

Servizievoli e disponibili
“grand hotel salerno”
