“Pet and People friendly!”
We stayed two nights at the Red Lion in Salem. We were quite satisfied with the comfort and cleanliness of the "pet friendly" room. We were on the 2nd floor, but it really wasn't a problem. The staff were quite friendly and there's a bar and restaurant on site. Conveniently located near I-5 and quite a few "services" nearby. We'd recommend this hotel and probably stay there again.
“Good place to stay overnight on road trip”
Comfortable room and bed. Loved the shower. A good night's rest on the journey home. Our only disappointment was that the refrigerator was not turned on when we arrived.
“This hotel is not internet friendly”
The internet connection in the hotel was incredibly slow and was set to cut off every 15 minutes or so, requiring a new logon. Also, skype is not allowed. When I asked the front desk for a solution, they called their internet service provider and then called me back and said that "there is nothing we can do". I find it incredible that the hotel would allow the ISP to dictate the level of service the hotel can provide to their guests. Also, during my stay, the electricity in my room went off several times a day. Each time it went off, I had to call the front desk and have a maintenance person come up and restore service. Again, "there's nothing we can do" was the front desk's response. I travel to Salem a several times a year, but I will not stay at this hotel again.
“I've had better, but this is still good.”
The only thing I didn't like about staying here was the fact that I could hear other people. Whenever someone stomped up and down the hall, or when the people in the room next to mine were being particularly loud. Other than that the hotel was a very nice place to stay. The customer care was excellent, and I wish I had tried the food, but daaaang was that expensive.
“Good value”
Excellent experience for very little money. Neighborhood is a bit sketchy but there are a lot of places to eat nearby. No problems with the hotel or the room. The king bed was very comfortable. The shower worked well. The heat had a definite unpleasant odor when I first turned it on, but that later disappeared.
“Very comfy bed.”
I have no complaints. They gave a discount for dinner and the staff was friendly.
“Usual stop going north”
Nice hotel, rooms alittle small but nice.
“Gritty and unwelcoming”
After a six hour flight and hour drive from Portland, all we wanted was to crash when arriving at midnight! When we got to our room, the beds did not have any pillows and they looked like the sheets had not been changed. I went down to the desk and informed them and they provided another room. The second room had pillows and the beds looked like they had been made. Upon entering the bathroom I noticed pubic hair and pee stains on the toilet! We checked out in the morning and received a refund. The place over all was very dingy, across from strip mall right off the highway. For the type of place it is I would expect to pay motel prices, not a regular hotel price.
“Tiny room”
Check in seem to take forever. We were given keys and told to enjoy our Executive level room. My husband and I looked at each other and smiled thinking we had hit the jackpot with an upgraded room, TOTAL OPPOSITE! We had to almost turn sideways to walk around the King sized bed that pretty much filled up most of the room. Our view outside the window was another rooms' deck! Sure glad they had a hotel bar, because James makes a good martini and that helped us sleep better in our claustrophobic room.
“Would go back if not placed near very noise family.”
Cool, clean, comfortable. Would like to be in different location than very noisey family. No continental breakfast.
