Stayed here for business. Chose Vincci SoMa because it was close to where I was working. I was pleasantly surprised. It's not fancy on the outside (right on Calle Goya, but it was so pleasant inside. The rooms were very "zen" looking and feeling. Very modern and very clean.
I wanted a light bite and their restaurant lounge/bar area was perfect for that--a place where you could casually relax and have a salad.
Staff was very accommodating--overall, I am pleased with this "find" and would definitely go there again.
This was a lovely hotel I a very central location in Madrid. Metro station very close and right in the shopping heart of Madrid. next door to Platea which has shops and a fantastic food/tapas and drink hall. Cafes as well if you don't want the hotel breakfast, which we chose not to access.
Bar area and public spaces were well appointed. Room was very comfortable, except for the system of two single beds pushed together to make the double - along with single bedding. Experienced this at the Melia Sevilla as well. Bathroom was good, Staff helpful at reception, although a bit disorganised when busy. Gave us great recommendations for places to eat and booked same if asked.
Hotel was pleasant, boutique style with nice staff. It was in an upmarket area of Madrid full of designer shops and expensive restuarants. It reminded me of Chelsea in London.
The hotel was a 15-20 minute walk to the centre of the city. Cabs are very cheap in Madrid and they don't try to rip you off.
North of the Retiro, Salamanca has always been an affluent neighbourhood. Its grid-like streets and beautiful houses sprang up at the end of the 19th century, escaping from the old city walls. Today, ladies who lunch drop into its spas and designer shops, many of which line the long, sleek Calle Serrano. The National Library and the Museum of Archaeology are close to the Plaza de Colón.
