For anyone looking to stay in Ile De Re, I'd advised not here. For starters, it is NOT made clear that a normal room only has a sofa bed in and not a proper bed. Also if you look through some of the pictures I have uploaded, the room felt very run down and just not very nice for the price. If I'd have known this, and not fallen for their photos online, I'd have paid a bit more to stay somewhere a lot better. A few things to list: - Sofa bed was terrible, they should state that the room does not contain a proper bed. - The extra bed in the room was another sofa...like why are there ZERO beds? - Paint peeling off the wall and ceilings. - Fans/Extractor in toilet and bathroom might as well not be there. - Room was not very clean. - Reception just are not that helpful. You can actually rent bikes at this place but for some reason in the help guide (in the room) it says goto YooToo rental(who are excellent!) but when we asked the reception they didn't even tell us that we could rent bikes here... - The reception had no idea how to get back to La Rochelle station. We just wanted some advice but couldnt get any. - The gym is NOT a gym. It contains about 4 cardio machines that are worn down. - The pool is very small and a weird size. Don't think it was made for swimming. A good thing is that the people are nice and you can tell the company need to just help them more. Overall, I hate to write bad reviews but I certainly wouldn't recommend this place.

Happy place to stay in Ile de Re
This was our second time to stay here in 4 years. The space and calmness is very appealing. Location is great, with free car parking. The grounds are very well kept and it has the advantage of a small indoor/outdoor swimming pool. We liked our bright and airy apartment but it had a very small cramped balcony compared to others. The main room was spacious, however, the toilet room was very small with difficulty in opening and closing the door. Staff were very friendly and helpful and there were plenty of bikes for hire. Overall, we were very pleased and will stay here again. Would recommend.

Most definitely not four star
The town is nice, not great for kids with the dangerous pier but nice besides. The hotel is a mix of run-down hostel and self-catering apartments. Not a hotel by any international understanding of the word - reception is manned for seven hours of the day and not consecutively, no restaurant, no bar, no vending machine, no doorman just a code, etc. Definitely not a four star hotel by Irish standards. I have no clue how the hotel got its rating. The reception staff are unusually unwilling to be decent to guests - I was told that bike rental is not 24 hrs but on a calendar day, i.e. rent a bike at 4pm, bring it back at 8pm, nobody on reception, bring it back the next morning, two days. Other bike hires in the town do not operate like that. My wife went to book pastries for our last morning at 6.50pm and was told that the order had been called in at 6.30pm and we missed it. Fair enough if we did, but I would wonder if she could have called to ask if they would take our order. We have two young children so running to the bakery on our last morning wasn't an option. I wouldn't bother with this place - too cold, too uncared-for, a bit like someone has worked out the maximum money from the minimum effort.
