Rooms were good size and clean. It came with a fridge and microwave which was a plus. Arrived on a Thurs. night and received a complimentary dinner in the hotel restaurant (was a perk on M-Th). Continental breakfast was decent with 4 dry cereals, biscuits and gravy, loaded scrambled eggs, French toast that needed to be microwaved or put in toaster, English muffins, bread, donuts, muffins, and Danish rolls.
We stayed in the one bedroom king suit at the Country Inn & Suites and it was everything we thought it would be and more. The room was big, spacious enough for four adult women. Everything worked The hotel staff were friendly and attentive. We can not wait to come back next year.
The "Monty" is a mansion that has been converted to an inn. Although they call themselves a bed and breakfast, the property has the amenities and privacy of a hotel. The staff is superb and will bend over backwards to make your stay enjoyable. Our room was large and had a gas-log fireplace. The property is clean and well maintained. The steam-heat registers in our room were a bit quirky but part of the overall historical experience. You don't get that sometimes uncomfortable B&B feeling that you are staying in someone else's house. Feels like a small boutique hotel. There is a full dinner menu and the continental breakfast, though simple, was fresh and diverse. Very romantic and charming!
Every Thanksgiving, as soon as dinner is over, our three generation family of 8 retreat to Frankenmuth Mi area from Indiana for weekend. There is traditional shopping at Birch Run, largest outlet in state with fantastic bargains all weekend. There is browsing in old town itself and River Place, with Bavarian Inn for dinner, movies, Bronners Christmas Store for setting the mood to begin Christmas push when go back home. In the past five years, we have stayed up the road 8 miles at Bridgeport for half the price as hotels continue to become prohibitive in Birch Run/Frankenmuth itself. This is a great hotel with good pricing, Cracker Barrel next door, Big Boy up the street, half the traffic and good breakfasts to start the day. The hotel itself does not have a large continental breakfast but we like later brunch so works well for us. Still can get basics to start the day.
