Dawson's - This stylish New York-style bistro serves dinner daily in a refined atmosphere with rich wood paneling, white tablecloths, with table and booth seating. The open-concept kitchen specializes in comfort food and offers salads and appetizers, pasta, chops, steaks, and seafood. Dinner only.

Dawson's Bar - Specializes in classic and modern martinis with appetizers and small bites. Open mid-day to late evening Monday through Friday, and late afternoon to late evening on weekends.

Vines - The casual lobby restaurant offers indoor and outdoor patio dining around a fountain, weather permitting. The menu focuses on regional cuisine using local ingredients. Daily breakfast and lunch buffets are served, as is a well-known Sunday champagne brunch.

Amourath 1819 - Busy lounge with large plasma TVs and three-story atrium bar overlooking the pool deck area. Light dinner served daily, with lunch available on weekends. Open late.

“Our annual stop”

We stop here on our way to and back from Palm Springs each year and love the staff and the beauty of the hotel . . . and of course a dinner at Dawson's each time!! And we always get a view of the Capitol Building which is lovely to look at out our picture window.

When to go

Weekends are always best here as the rates are lower and the bustle of the government is out of town.

Getting there

Very convenient as it is only a few blocks off of I-5 and I-80.

Dining

Dawson's Restaurant is on site and one of the better eateries in Sacramento - great menu and wine options with superior service.

“Balcony door had broken lock”

The window to the small balcony had a broken lock. I wasn't able to lock it. I had two toddler with me in the room so that was a major issue. I had to place all possible furniture against the door to prevent my children from opening the door in the middle of the night and possibly falling 8 floors.

Dear Traveler, Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel at Expedia. You mentioned that the lock to your balcony door on the 8th floor was broken. If I may inquire what room number so that I can ensure that our Engineering Department has addressed this lock and fixed it. “Great place to stay in Sacramento”

The hotel staff did a great job of accommodating guests during a period of construction, to minimize interruptions to our stay. We were surprised there was no microwave or refrigerator in the room. The staff did a great job providing quality service; our car was ready when expected, the room was clean, the front desk was very courteous, the pool lounge service was excellent, and Dawson's Steakhouse was good. I would avoid the bar in the lobby at night, because the staff appeared annoyed to serve customers; I overheard the bartender speaking negatively about patrons.

Family-friendly activities

A fun place for kids is the Six Flags Discovery Kingdom park in Vallejo, which is an easy hour, or so, drive from Sacramento.
