Pleasant weekend stay
We had a nice stay at the Old Pheasant. The room was well decorated and the bed comfortable. The pillows are very soft and I was glad I'd brought my own. The bathroom is tight but very clean. There were a few niggles - a dirty glass, music playing from the kitchen stores outside our window which meant we had to close the window although it was hot. There was no breakfast option available. The dinner in the restaurant below was excellent and the serving staff were lovely.

A beautiful restaurant serving good, reasonably-priced food, cosy welcoming bar area and comfortable bed with good shower....easy parking and helpful staff. So sorry that they plan to close down due to a shortage of good chefs in the area......come on chefs! Give them a call quickly!!!!

The thermostat on the radiator in my room didnt work and it sounded like i had a fan in the roof space above me which was running all night ! Which spoilt what would have been an enjoyable stay , Room 6

Nice place, good evening food - NO breakfast!
Great welcome, good evening meal, good portions and menu choices. I am sure this lovely place does a wonderful breakfast at weekends but unfortunately does not serve breakfast during the week(??) which was not good - instead a continental breakfast in a bag was provided for £5, this was provided in the evening for the next morning. There are no fridges in room's to keep water or juice cool so I did not order my 2nd day breakfast as I left most of day 1's dried up Croissant, cup-cake & 'add water' Porridge, warm Tropicana juice - not great. This was disappointing and means I won't stay again when on business as a cooked breakfast is essential.

Always lovely staying at The Old Pheasant. Only downside are the en suite bathrooms, took 20 minutes to run the bath as pressure too low for a shower. Otherwhys food fab, service fantastic x we will be back x

Really nice place to stay with great rooms, food, drink and service. The only problem was that the radiator in the room wouldn't turn off so it was far too hot to get a good nights sleep.

pleasant overnight stay in Rutland
An enjoyable overnight stay at a very pleasant pub/hotel with friendly staff plus real fires on a cold day!. Room was good and very quiet which was a pleasant surprise as it is located on a popular A road. We had a good meal in the evening and a good breakfast. Would definitely recommend for anyone wanting to stay in the Uppingham area.

Pleasant hotel in the countryside
This is a pleasant pub/restaurant/hotel on the A47 about 6 miles from Oakham. Although it was just set back from the main road there was no issue with the traffic. Good size room on first floor was clean and comfortable for our 2 night stay. The room was cleaned during our stay. Staff were very friendly. If there was a slight negative it was the low water pressure in the shower but it wouldn't stop me from staying again.

Oasis near Leicester
Attractive hotel and inn we chose on our trip to Leicester. Room was small but had everything we needed and overlooked the front and large courtyard garden. Inside was as expected for a yesteryear inn; wooden floorboards and tables, cosy fireplaces etc. Staff extremely attentive and the food, both evening meal and breakfast, was well presented and tasty, and used local ingredients. Bar also had 3 real ales on tap. Nice seating area which got the afternoon and evening sun. Only minor point spoiling a veritable oasis was the A47 running passed the entrance, but not an issue for us. Friendly and well run establishment by worldly-wise manager.

We stayed here as it was near and convenient to my sisters house. Having not paid for breakfast helped as we intended to eat at her house. We did have one evening meal which was not brilliant but ok. The cheesecake was very disappointing, glutaneous,waxy texture with no taste though strawberry & raspberry were nice!

Hits the spot!
I needed to find somewhere to stay close to Peterborough at the last minute. Absolutely fantastic service. All the staff I came in contact with were exceptionally polite and naturally so. There was no ‘forced’ over familiarity, just good old pleasant good manners. Check in was simple-brilliant room- food(and very tasty at that-Hit the spot) provided without issue, I was quite late. Atmosphere and decor very welcoming. Wished I was staying longer!

Booked last minute as was undertaking some work nearby. Arrived late in the evening and was greeted by a lovely young lady who upgraded me as i parked my car! Had a quick drink in the bar then headed for bed. In the morning a had a very pleasant breakfast and was on my way. The Old Pheasant was a lovely surprise with real life good people! I will definately return and recommend...just a shame that missed out on those lamb shanks!

Comfortable and good service
The hotel is in a very small village but on the main A47 road, so some rooms can have traffic noise. The staff are lovely and friendly and the food is worth the visit. They just need to update the bathrooms and I would give it a full house of 5's.
