Excellent location for Rutland Water

Posted 10-Apr-2015
Pros: Ground floor rooms very convenient to walk our dog in the spacious hotel grounds with circular grass paths adjacent to field full of Highland Cattle.
Cons: Bathroom needs updating in the room we occupied, and it was a little on the dark side during the day despite several small windows.
Location: Ideal location for Rutland Water with Oakham, Garden Centres and Boat Trips etc. a short drive away.
Celebration of my wife's special birthday. Booked Superior Twin Room for two days accompanied by our two year old Miniature Schnauzer. Large Bouquet of flowers and balloons ordered through Inter Flora in room on arrival together with unexpected welcome pack dog bowls and duvet bed for our dog including a welcome note from the hotel's resident dog, a nice touch from caring hotel staff. Room spacious with separate settee and tea/coffee facilities, easily controlled heaters comfortable single beds but duvets bit too heavy for me. Bathroom/Shower spacious but a little dated and tired, elderly persons using shower require additional hand support and bath a bit too slippery for comfort. Dined in hotel restaurant on second night and really enjoyed the entire food and service experience though not exactly cheap. Full English Breakfast a little disappointing one, tiny overcooked rasher of bacon, one sausage and one egg only together with usual bits and pieces tomato etc. however service prompt and efficient.

Lovely hotel close to Rutland water

Posted 17-Mar-2015
Pros: Very cosy, with a great restaurant and attentive staff
Cons: The coffee table in the room was quite tatty, and was in marked contrast to the rest of the d├ęcor which was to a high standard.
A lovely short stay, perfect.

Very comfortable country hotel

Posted 23-Feb-2015
Pros: Location, food
Cons: One or two lounge chairs are a little tired in appearance and some of the paintings around are perhaps not to our taste
Location: Explore Rutland Water, taking in the multitude of birdwatching opportunities, and the nearby towns of Oakham etc.
In an excellent location for exploring the many attractions of Rutland Water and its surroundings, Barnsdale Lodge provides very comfortable accommodation with excellent service. The restaurant is not cheap, but the quality and presentation of the food is excellent with level of service to match.

Fantastic hotel

Posted 14-Jan-2015
Stayed in Superior room and that came with a huge extra kings size bed that was very comfortable. Room had triple glazing, thick curtains, four chairs a couple of tables. Great remote controlled shower, sensor night light in bathroom and lots of other carefully thought out touches. Room nice and clean Staff were quick. Grounds were beautiful and just a short Walt to Rutland water. Good was first rate though not cheap. A lovely hotel I really want to go back to.

Excellent hotel with a very good restaurant. Set in beautiful countryside and ideal for walking and especially for the trout fishing on the doorstep. Quiet and peaceful an ideal retreat for those seeking a peaceful getaway with comfort and good food.

Noisy room soiled our stay.

Posted 26-Dec-2014 on Hotels.com
We had an excellent meal, both in food quality and in service. The breakfast was very good too. The downside was that this is the noisiest night I have had. Our room was subject to noise (voices, furniture moving, etc)until about 3.00am and it started up again at 6.00.
