We just returned from our trip yesterday and had an amazing time at jewel. We stayed in room 1017 with the plunge pool. It was worth the $100 a night upgrade I negotiated at the front desk. My two teenagers used the plunge pool each day and well as we took the baby in it daily. Also the shower had 6 shower heads and was very spacious. The room itself is basic but was fine. The food at all the restaurants had hit and misses like most places you go. We enjoyed the buffet and the jade Samaria the most. The water park was a lot of fun and we used it daily. All the outside kids was a bit much but we just had a positive attitude about it and jumped in the lazy river with them all. I recommend jewel and would definitely go back.
The hospitality was awesome from all the staff. Chef Adrian made some special selections that we requested and did not disappoint. The nanny service is the reason we came and the reason we will be back! The resort itself can use some overall upgrades. Doesn't seem like any upgrades have been made to accommodate 21st century living. Thank god for the shared beach, because FDR's beach is tiny and not conducive to a day at the beach setting. Resort is smaller than I thought so very glad I visited during off-peak (May-Oct). The owner is very pleasant and is there every single day. If you are going to do any excursions make sure to get the transfer price ahead of time.
We will give them a second chance - but 1st visit - no tv remote, ac remote broken, very complicated shower to operate, but once you get the hang of it it's fine. Breakfast was great. Ours was a scheduled one night layover visit, but next time we'll make it a longer stay since the atmosphere was very peaceful. Looks like good security.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay at Jewel Paradise Cove. Check-in took about 20 minutes, mostly due to the fact that their key coder was being rebooted. We were offered their drink of the day and a cool towel when we arrived, so the wait didn't bother us much. We booked the standard Garden View room with a king size bed and ended up in the 600 building, overlooking the quieter Aquamarina pool and had a partial view of the ocean as well, which was an awesome surprise! The two arm chairs in our room were a little dated and worn, but everything else appeared clean. There is not a luggage rack, but there is an elevated shelf in the closet to put your suitcase on. It took us a few tries to figure out how to keep water from running from the surround of the tub onto the floor, but a rolled up bath towel did the trick. There's no on-site laundry facilities, so everything is taken to Jewel Runaway Bay for washing. We were without hand towels or washcloths for a day because of this, so we learned to hold on to our towels - even the pool towels so we were sure to have one every day. The food was good, but nothing to rave about. The staff was always friendly, especially our favorite bartenders Dwaine & Yonique. We never had a problem getting a chair at the pool, no matter how early or late we showed up.
This resort seems unassuming at first but once you get there it will feel like home. Never judge a book by it's cover. The staff is A1 and the facilities are amazing. Planning on staying there again for sure
The hotel and grounds were nice overall. But we had issues with the air conditioning that took them half the trip to fix (after numerous calls). We repeatedly asked for wash clothes to no avail.
The king size bed was very uncomfortable. The food in the main buffet was extremely salty!! Nice resort, but wouldn't visit again.
