The view from the patio where we had breakfast every morning was simply divine! There's always birds, ducks and chicken around.
The whole setting was full of character - from the walk to the bale, to the all-wooden architecture, to the bathroom. There the mosquito net over the bed was a nice practical and romantic touch. No issues with bugs - insect repellent and mosquito coils were always available.
Breakfast was nice and the variety was comprehensive.
The only thing to note is that the location of the hotel is not exactly near Ubud town. There's a free shuttle serivce from the hotel to the town, but traffic is commonly congested. We once had to wait over 1hr for a pick up from town back to the hotel. But that's probably the way things are at the town area, nothing much that the hotel could do (except perhaps to inform us of possible delay given the time of day).
We travelled on mid of March, family of 4, 2 rooms from Batuan Villas.
Once we arrived, we were greeted with refreshing juices that sufficiently cool us down in that hot weather of Bali. Check in procedures were fast, the staff led us to our rooms and showed us the facilities around. The rooms were lovely, the bathrooms were clean and spacious.
The breakfast they provided were really good and healthy, Western or Indonesian style served with fresh fruit juice and fruit salad. I personally don't mind to have them everyday. We were also offered free afternoon tea coupons. I highly recommend Bebek Tepi Sawah restaurant next to the hotel (not the one we had our breakfasts), this is one of the must-eat restaurant in Ubud, they are famous for their smoked duck.
The hotel provides free shuttle bus service, in fact, mini vans, they will drive you to anywhere in Ubud, and pick you up at the time and place that you preferred. It's very convenient. On the last night of our trip, we tried to book for a spa session from the hotel. Unfortunately it was fully booked, the staff were very helpful that they arrange another spa not far from the hotel and arrange transportation.
We really enjoy the stay at Bebek Tepi Sawah and pleased with their service.
If only we could stay here longer than the 3 nights we did! Location is a little hard to find at first, but once you've adjusted it's pretty close to town through a 10-min shortcut behind Monkey Forest. The reception was superb - friendliest people on the island who can speak English, ever-ready to help with anything, be it bike rental (recommended but provided if you fulfill all the legal requirements of riding one), taxis, places to eat, etc. The room was huge, comfy and really inviting with a nice balcony for some chilling. It's peaceful and serene, kinda makes you question why you've booked this place for only a couple of nights. Sometimes at night, you get some friendly bugs keeping you company (the only annoying ones are the mozzies) but watch out for those geckos though, someone has been feeding them laxatives because they poop like nobody's business.

This resort is located less than one km (one-quarter mile) from the Monkey Forest and one and a half km (one mile) from the …More
We were there during the off season and of the 4 rooms available we were the only guests there. July (pronounced Julie) was about the only person we had any contact with and he was very helpful. He was punctual in getting our breakfast every and taking us into Ubud when we needed to go. Ubud is about a 10 minute drive from the villa.
The only time that the room was cleaned was when we requested it. We had to ask for fresh towels almost every day.
The room was spacious, had a patio with a nice view and A/C. The bathroom served as both the shower and bathroom, no divider. There was limiteed space for hanging your clothes.
We tried the TV a few times but the reception was poor. We weren't very interested in watching it anywhay. The wifi was sporatic and had been shut off on one occation because "It is hot and it needed to cool. Most of the time we went into the lobby to get connected and even then you had to be on the opposite side of the wall from the router, which was outside.
The breakfast was the same everyday, no variety except a choice between western and Asian.
