This hotel was even nicer than expected. It is a very grand 18th century mansion turned into a hotel. It has beautiful and very grand rooms decorated in high quality period (or period-style) furniture and lovely gardens. Our room was massive, with a huge oak canopy bed and the children in a different alcove. It looked like a suite. The hotel is separated from the town centre only by a lovely park, but if you are planning to walk, be aware it is quite steep. I'd recommend driving for most, but a walk can be done if you are fit and have time to enjoy the ramble. There is a fine dining restaurant and a posh bistro, which are both nice but pricey. They have weddings in the same room in which you eat breakfast, so that is also very grand. The breakfast they served was also lovely. The hotel requests that guests wear at least smart casual at all times, so no shorts for breakfast here. Queen Victoria used to stay here on her visits to 'Royal' Tunbridge Wells and the hotel has been kept up to the same quality and standard. Very, very nice hotel.

Old world character meets new world standards of service. This charming old hotel has an old pub style bar next to a modern restaurant. The staff were very attentive and friendly. It was a pleasurable stay.
Lovely and characterful B&B within an easy walk of Tunbridge Wells town centre. Rooms beautifully decorated in high Victorian style, the Morris room particularly recommended for admirers of the Arts and Crafts movement. Tea and cake on arrival, excellent breakfast and a very hospitable host.
This is a marvelous place, and I highly recommend. Enjoyed the house, breakfasts, host and hostess, the area, etc. Hope to return on another visit. And many thanks for the recommendations for dinner sites and for suggestions on itinerary additions.
