I stayed at the hotel for 2 nights on business and after parking in their underground car park was met with excellent reception staff and allocated my room quickly and efficiently.
The room was on the 10th floor with great city views and a very lage balcony (all rooms with balcony).
Everything was well designed, the room had a plethora of local information as well as room service menu etc. Storage was good, bathroom an excellent size with a good shower.
I asked for an iron and ironing board and it was there in less than a minute! Brilliant.
Deciding to go into town each evening the recpetion staff were extremely helpful in offering taxi numbers, maps and even siad i could call them and they would arrange a taxi back when i needed one. Breakfast was excellent with great fesh produce and a good variety available.
During the night there was severe storm but the soundproofing was brilliant and I didn't hear a thing.
Check-out was efficient and rapid and all delivered with smiles and best wishes. Well done the Dorint!
The rooms were smaller than expected but still very good value for the money. The room was extremely quiet considering it was right next to a busy train station and intersection. The food was excellent, the staff was friendly and very accommodating and overall we enjoyed our time there.
First disappointment was that the hotel was about 5 minutes away from from Königsplatz: not tragic, but not a good first impression. For the price, the room was fine: but the air conditioning was negligible, and the smell of smoke was initialy very strong. Cleaning the room during our stay did not include replacing empty soap containers or even emptying and replacing glassesused for water. All in all, it was not a room to spend much time in, but was OK for overnighting for a few days.
I chose this Augsburg hotel on the word of TA reviewers and so glad i did. It's on the edge of the old city, walking distance from Hbh, gracious, comfortable and with good breakfast. Lucky me, no car - I gather that could be a problem but have no certain knowledge. I was upgraded with no cost to a lovely quiet and large room, and the staff are friendly, efficient and helpful and aided me when I got into a bit of computer bother (all sorted). There's free wifi in the bar area, plus a computer for guest use, but if you want to do all that in your room you can get a 10 euro Telekom card and blast away.
This was a pleasant surprise. The interior is very modern. Hotel staff was very helpful and spoke English very well. When we arrived in our room, the room was very nice! The room was very modern and had excellent working space. WiFi speed was fairly good. Parking was in a parking structure right next door and was easy to access. The best part of the room was a very modern (and large) bathroom. Full size bathtub, dual sinks and large shower with a waterfall showerhead. Overall was very impressed by the room!
The hotel exceeded expectations, we were looking for somewhere reasonably priced...and we ended up with a hotel that was exceptionally clean, very comfortable, within easy walking distance of the centre of Augsburg with its bars (Jacobvs is good), restaurants, coffee shops (would recommend Henry's) & tourist attractions...all with friendly staff & a good breakfast
This is not a real hotel, not even a motel. This is a hostel sort of thing. But if you realize that and adjust your expectations appropriately, this is one great and cheap place.
Minutes walking to Augsburg downtown.
Clean and pretty quiet. OK, if your windows face the street, you better close them.
Maybe I lucked in, but there was not too many people there and no student parties. It was very quiet.
A word of warning:
- they don't provide towels by default. Prepare 2 euros to pay for using 1 towel. Or bring own.
- they don't provide soap. Even for money. If you insist they can share some from their private stash. But better bring your own.
- read room description carefully. What I thought was a "2 bedroom" appeared to be a "2 bed room" :)
