“Roberto O. Lara”
for the price is excelent option if you need to espend the nigth close to the Auirport (by the way the most terrible airport in europe)
“Hated it!”
I didn't realize Italians could be as surly and unhelpful as the people who operated this B&B were. Shuttle service to/from airport not provided as promised. Air conditioning did not work. TV did not work. Woman couldn't get espresso machine to steam milk our first morning. Breakfast consisted of a carton of juice and some rolls wrapped in cellophane. The only time they seemed to speak English was when they explained that I needed to get cash from the ATM down the street because they did not take credit cards. One positive - despite its not being convenient to Rome, I liked the location near the water at Fuimicino.
“Poor experience”
The hotel is attractive, an upgraded old tower. The rooms vary from extremely large and beautiful to very small and hot. The advertised shuttle never appeared, each time with minimal excuse (the driver was tired . . . ) and each time I waited 30 minutes at the airport before finally being told to take a taxi. I stayed there at the beginning and end of my trip in March, 2010, and all all four occasions there was no shuttle visible. The service at the hotel was minimal to none. I carried my own bags up (and down) two flights of stairs, with young people rushing to help me only as I crested the final stair. Since one rings at the bottom to be let in, it was clear that I was coming up. No directions were given about the room, (e.g., in the grand room one must let the hot water run for 10 minutes before it gets hot). On leaving, I carried my bags down all the flights of stairs to the bottom in the dark, found in the dark the light switch in order to open the locked door, and let myself out in the dark to find the taxi. The hotel seems to be a social center for the neighborhood, as throughout the evening people were ringing the bell and running upstairs to watch TV together. On my last night there was a soccer match, with probably 20-30 young men in the tv room shouting throughout the match, in the room and in the halls. I think it might be a fun hotel to own, but it certainly wasn't fun to stay there. I don't recommend it, and wouldn't stay there again.
“Youth Hostel?”
Had wanted a small place close to the airport for our last night in Italy and were looking for something picturesque (romantic?) - the B&B description seemed to fit the bill. Had trouble finding it initially because it was above a store front on the main street. On checking the facilities we basically thought we had arrived at a youth hostel - at least it had a private washroom. Staff tried to be helpful but had very limited english. Everything was clean enough. The towels supplied in the washroom were dish towels. We went for a walk and it only took a half hour max to take in the harbour area. As often happens in Italy the stores were closed in the afternoon & re-opened around 4:00. Did get to watch the fishing boats come in during the afternoon. General area is obviously under transition from an industrial area with lots of construction and what looks like condos and hotels going up, so area will probably continue to improve over time. Couple of nice restaurants nearby but fairly expensive. With some reservations I can recommend the area but given the price can not really recommend this B&B unless you're just looking for somewhere quick to lie your head for the night before going to the airport.
