“Qlocationuiet”
I would most definitely recommend the "Starhotels Michelangelo". The location is perfect for travellers who are looking to tour the Vatican city. It is located in a residential area so there is not alot of night time street noise. One block to main road and close to all major bus routes. I have learned they are beginning a renovation starting around mid December. The staff were helpful, courteous, and friendly. I ate dinner at the hotel on two occasions and was very impressed. The continental breakfast was plentiful and also very good. Thank you for making my first visit to Rome such a memorable one!
“Close to perfect”
There is no way to beat the location. It is literally a 5 minute walk to the Vatican. The hotel is Beautiful and maintained meticulously. There are only 2 negatives climate control in the rooms and the cost of the Dinning room and Bar. The rooms were uncomfortably warm but was easily checked by opening the window. No direct control in the room for temperature. The cost of dining here is absurd and wasn't worth the price. The included breakfast was fabulous and made up for it. The staff will bend over backwards for you and the staff is friendly. In summary, it was close enough to perfect for me!
“Loved this hotel!”
This was a great hotel. It was a ten minute walk to St. Peters basilica and the center of the Vatican. From there we walked all over Rome with ease. I hate walking and am not in great shape and found we walked everywhere with ease. This was my first visit to Rome since their subway had been developed but we never used it. We walked to the Spanish steps, the Trevi Fountain, the Forum and Collisseum. The hotel was bright, spacious and felt like a five star hotel. The front desk staff was superb. There was a night manager who was so hospitable, funny, and charming. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was spacious. Everything I have to say is so bland because everything was perfect. We ate breakfast every morning in the hotel and it was lovely in the restaurant. The neighborhood was a bit isolated at night but one night we got back to the hotel without eating dinner and got a recommendation from the staff. The restaurant La Frusta was around the corner and a bit fun-Italian style. They brought us antipasto, pasta, dessert, wine, and had I not said no there would have been 4 other courses. I was nervous going to a place recommended by the hotel but it definitely paid off. I have no hesitation recommending this hotel to anyone. Beautiful inside and out, great service, comfortable. They also offered a car service to the hotel that was great-take advantage of it!!! If they offer it have the car pick you up from the airport too.
“2 blocks walk to Vatican-St Peter Square”
Upon arrival, we had reserved 1 double bed, for our anniversary. Hotel gave us room with 2 twin beds. The moved in a double bed on next morning, so all was good. Note: there is almost no such thing as a queen or king bed in most hotels in Europe. Great location, clean room, good full breakfast included each day. Pack and bring a face washcloth and a bar of soap for the shower. Tip#1: on your first day, go buy a metro/bus pass at the convenience store 2 blks from hotel. Once you use the pass on a rail or bus, it is good for the period you purchased it for: 3day, 5day, 7day. You can simply use any transport service. Tip#2: use the river as your walking guide, if you get lost. Simply count the bridges. Tip#3: the tunnel has a fenced safe walking path on the right side. Tip#4: go to Abbey Pub for some good ol Irish grub and ale. Good satellite TV, watched NFL games on Tgiving there. Tip#5: try to visit vatican and st peters on weekdays, not Fri or Sat. Pope gives his blessing on Weds, and you can get tix from the Swiss Guard office, or just show up at 10am Weds---there were 200 empty seats at our service. Tip#5: walk thru St Peter Square to other side, and get to know and use the electric tram train #19. It will be your best friend to get to Spagna shopping area-which is awesome. Stay on the tram#19, and it will take you to the Zoo. You will see the zoo easily on your left and hop off. Tip#6: watch out for pickpockets, altho we did not see any crime at all! Have fun
“Convenient and Comfortable”
An excellent hotel close to the Vatican. Would recommend to anyone.
“Rome Hotel”
The hotel was clean, quiet, and near the Vatican. We enjoyed the complimentary breakfast as well. The desk clerk was helpful in arranging for a car to bring us to the port to start our cruise. Would recommend to others.
“Very Impressed”
Location is great (couple of blocks from St Peter's), hotel has been recently upgraded, rooms were great, will most definitely go back to the Star Michelangelo !
“Very impressed.”
Hotel, room and employees were very impressibve.
“Best hotel for visiting Vatican City”
Quiet street. Easy walk to St Peter's and the rest of Vatican City. Walking distance to many other points of interest in Rome. Location is especially good for persons in wheel chair as there are no steep hills to go down or up to get to St Peter's. Resteraunt food is excellent but a little pricy. We had a person in wheel chair and used walker in room. Hotel has a lager elevator for wheel chairs. Bathroom access with walker is challenging but doable. Bar is nice and has good selection of single-malt scotches. All service personnel are very nice and speak English. Good cafes and pizzarias nearby as well as a pharmacy that is open on Sundays.
“would go back”
michaelangelo hotel is not a 4 star hotel as advertised but saying that it is very well located next door to vatican city and within walking distance of all rome's attractions, rooms spacious and comfortable but lack tea/coffee making facilities which is a must for hotels of this standard, rotting mouldy pannelling around the bath/shower area, missing trimming around vanity area, could do with redecorating, staff very friendly and helpful.despite this i would go back to this hotel if only for its location michael , ireland.
