“Cool place to stay”
We loved this hotel. It is located right near the Piassa De Popolo which leads you to many main streets to walk to attractions, so it is close to everything. We walked everywhere which is a blast to do in Rome. They upgraded us for free which was nice. They have an outstanding free breakfast buffet that included eggs, meats, cheeses, desserts, sparking wine . . . They play classic rock in all areas of the hotel. They have two computers for guest to use for free, which helped us to check email and give updates on Facebook. There are some great restaurants very close as well. We would stay there again.
“Unbeatable Location, Great Value!!!”
Great location about 7 minutes from the Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain. Easy to find - convenient by the Metro (Red Line, Fluminco stop). We were upgraded to a Deluxe room, which had a great bathroom and comfortable beds. Breakfast had lots of variety and was delicious. Hotel bar offered 50% during Happy Hour (6-10). Very helpful staff (though not the most knowledgable, they try). If you're interested in a tour of the Vatican, I recommend using Angel Tours (knowledgable, reasonable, youthful, helpful, English-speaking, small groups). Nearby were 3 main shopping streets, the main one (del Corso) leads to the main Piazza by the Roman Forum and Colosseum (literally 10 minutes walk if you walk quickly). Would be honored to stay here again!
“Extremely good location, very close to restaurants and sights”
I struggle to get a decent hotel for business in Rome, it is a regular problem with the best hotels often taken by the time I am ready to book. I need a good desk, and fast internet, plus the usual hotel facilities to be able to operate effectively. The reason there was availability at this hotel is the location. It is on the north side of Piazza del Popalo by about 100m. Looking at the map of Rome with the Formum, the Pantheon etc, Piazza Navona etc, this looks like quite a long way out to the uneducated. But the reality is that this is the perfect spot. It is very close to the best shopping streets of Rome, there are excellent restaurants in Piazza Agusto, and north of the Spanish steps, all within 5mins walk. It is a very nice and safe place to walk about. The Coliseum, Trastevere and Forum are a bit of a walk, but there is a metro station close by. Trevi Fountain, Pantheon etc, Piazza Navona are all about 10mins walk, maybe slightly longer. The Vatican is walkable. The service in the hotel is the best I have had in Rome and I have stayed in quite a few hotels, most have relatively poor service. This is impeccable service by any standard. There is a lovely bar that has happy hour and half price drinks with nibbles from 6:30-10pm. Breakfast was the best I have had in Rome, it was exceptional. The room was nice, not huge, and the bath/shower was not huge either, but big enough and well decorated. It had all I needed, except for an espresso machine. Great location!
“The Perfect Rome Hotel”
The hotel is ideally placed (in a nice area of the City) for all of Rome's key sites, being only two minutes walk from the Piazza del Poppolo and the Via del Corso - the nearest Metro is two minutes walk, the Vatican and Collesium 20 to 25 minutes walk in opposite directions. The staff were brilliant. The bedroom was well decorated, compact as you would expect of most city hotels, but with a sizable bathroom, flat screen TV and good air conditioning. The buffet breakfast included in our rate was served 0630 to 1030 and was very extensive, including homemade cakes and Proseco! A real bonus was the evening happy hour - 1800 to 2200 drinks were half price in the hotel bar, a good way to start or finish the evening. I booked a few months in advance via Expedia and the rate was very reasonable. Look no further than this hotel!
“Bella!!!”
This was a trip of a life time!! We have a group of friends that wanted to take a trip outside of America we all decided on Rome being that we lived (husband and I) there 10 years ago it would be great to have them experience what we did the food the culture and the wonderful historical sites filled our imaginations. The hotel was outstanding in all ways from customer service to the cleaniness of the room. Everyone that work in the hotel was friendly and willing to help as much as possible. Expedia did a wonderful job by keeping us inform about changes. Your site is true to word. I was a little uneasy about using a site such as this but it paid off tremdously. Thank you to Expedia and River Palace for such outstanding services.
“Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a convenient & quiet place to stay”
Just returned from the River Palace and really can't fault our stay there. Very quiet location in a very busy city. Friendly curtious staff, clean & comfortable room Excellent choice of breakfast food - even champagne if you want it. Situated very close to the metro station so convenient for all attractions. Loved the happy 4 hour deal in the evening with "free" buffet & half price drinks - excellent value for money & a lovely cool friendly atmosphere. Would definitely go back to this hotel & recommend to anyone thinking of visiting Rome.
“A great place to stay”
The hotel location is close to the centre but not on a thoroughfare so benefits from little passing traffic. Stafff are welcoming and friendly. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Standard rooms are not as spacious as the slightly more expensive superior rooms but still perfectly OK The breakfasts are as good as you'd find in any good European hotel. The bar offers a 4 hour long 'happy hour' with prices that are a 50% discount on prices that aren't expensive to begin with. Having stayed in a number of hotels over the years I would rate this one highly - and great value for money
“Not great for business but good for vacationers”
Just completed an 8 day stay at the River Palace while attending a conference. Overall the hotel was well appointed and would certainly be acceptable for those on a vacation/holiday where you are busy sightseeing all day. However, I was here for business and the River Palace was not a good choice, especially after seeing numerous other hotels (of my colleagues) in the same price range. A particular challenge was internet access – the connection was spotty to begin with, and the last 72 hours of my trip it was down completely everywhere in the hotel. This was a huge issue, especially as I had work to do every day. I would seriously recommend considering another hotel if internet access is a priority. The benefits of the River Palace include easy access to Piazza Popolo, a short walk to historic sights (an easy 15-20 minutes), a nice breakfast, and a nice happy hour with snacks (perfect for returning after a long day of sightseeing). However, there is no gym, the rooms are small (the single rooms are like a closet) as are the showers (VERY tiny), and the staff can be a bit rude. Overall, River Palace is probably fine for those on holiday but business travelers can probably fine something with more reliable amenities.
“Fantastic hotel with great staff”
Very friendly and helpful hotel in a convenient location.
“Great Location In Rome”
This was a wonderful hotel in a great location. Close to the Metro and walking distance to the Spanish Steps, Piazza del Popolo and the three main streets in the area. There was plenty of shopping and restaurants. We loved the hotel. The deluxe room was perfect for my husband and I even though it was smaller than what we are accustomed to it was plenty of room for us and our our two large suitcases. The breakfast buffet was nice and a great selection of items. We would recommend this hotel as well as stay there when we make our next trip to Rome.
