“old residence villa linked to subway by bus”

When we arrived at the Rome airport, we asked for info at a ticket booth and was offered to send us to the hotel with 15 Euro each. So we easily got to the hotel early in the morning but could not check-in. We bought bus tickets (1 Euro each) at the gas station across the street and took bus #766 to the subway station to get our Roma Pass (25 Euro each). The Roma Pass offers free public transit plus two museums. So we went to see the Colosseo immediately. The line-up was long there but with the Roma Pass, we could directly get in which saved us some time. When we went back to check-in, we found our room to be simple but spacious. The only thing is that the bed has four poles and the ones at the footboard were terrible stumbles for us. The safe was not working but quickly fixed later on. The breakfast was good with choices - meat and cheese included. The expresso there was good, and the service was great.

Area recommendations
You may need at least two to three days to tour around Rome. We spent one day in the Old City, one day at the Vatican, and half a day back to the Old City before leaving for Florence. We visited the Musei Vaticani in the morning, and after lunch there, we were surprised to find that the tour routes were changed. We were allowed to get into many rooms in the morning (but not the garden), but in the afternoon, the flow was directed to the garden and many rooms were no longer allowed to enter into. So we went to see the garden and enjoyed the view and sunshine there. We'd suggest that if you have time, you can go there in the morning and stay till the afternoon; but if you don't have much time, you can go there in the afternoon as there was no line-up when we came out around 3 pm and there were still people entering into.

“A wonderful experience”

We had a wonderful experience staying at this hotel. The staff was very helpful and welcoming. The hotel is located in the E.U.R. area of Rome, but the public transportation in Rome can get you anywhere in the city very easily. The staff of the hotel gave easy directions for using the public transit system, and even sold the metro cards at the hotel. The breakfast provided bythe hotel was tastey and the capaccinos were awesome! The restaurant downstairs was lovely, and the food was reasonably priced and delicious! When we come back to Roma we will be staying at the Orto di Roma again.

Area recommendations
The city center is were all the "action" is. That is where you find the sites of Rome. Don't overlook the outlining areas though. Trastavere neighborhood by the river is lovely. Explore Rome, not just the sites and you won't be disappointed!
Getting around
The Roma Pass is a must-get for those spending at least 3 days in Rome. The pass is inexpensive and gets you into 2 sites for free. After the first two sites you get discounted admission to a great number of other locations! The pass also provides you with free publictransportation during the three days it is valid (buses, metro and trains but not the express train) The pass starts the first day you use it at a site or on public transit and is good until midnight on the third night. You can purchase the Roma Pass at kiosk at metro stations, Termini Station and at kiosk by major attractions like the Colosseum. Well worth the money!!

“Good and cheap hotel”

It is a good hotel, comfortable, good breakfast, good location, but the only detail is that the wifi wasn't working. I would recommend it anyway.

“Fantastic family owned hotel”

The staff was very friendly and extremely accommodating. They offer a shuttle service from the airport, if needed. The room was clean and the grounds were very well kept. We were there for 2 weeks and never had any problems. The hotel is located just on the outskirts of Rome and was close to both a bus stop and a shopping center. We were provided with a map so that we knew where the bus stops and metro were.

Area recommendations
Staying on the outskirts of Rome was very nice and a bit cheaper. We were still able to get around very easily via the bus and metro systems.

“Out of the Way Find”

This hotel in on the outskirts of Rome, but a taxi ride from the hotel to the Roma Termini was only 18 Euro. The hotel was very clean and the staff very helpful and friendly. They were happy to tell us how to get back from the city center using the mass transit of trains and buses (they have a great map!!!) A friend of ours was stationed in Venice, so he came down to visit us in Rome, but the time got away from us, so instead of him catching a train back to Venice, he came back to the hotel with us. The concierge on duty (at midnight) was more than accommodating was got a 3rd bed, blankets and pillow for him to sleep on! The thoughtfuls went way beyond what we were expecting and couldn't be happier. After spending so many nights in the hustle and bustle of the "city" we were happy for a night of quiet before we returned home. I would definately recommend this hotel and stay there again!

Area recommendations
If you're headed to Rome, then all likelihood you're wanting to stay in the downtown area. Any of the small hotels on the side streets off of Via Nazionale are perfect! They are within walking distance of ALL of the major attractions, are relatively inexpensive and have GREAT restaurants. Via Nazionale has amazing shopping and gelatto, so don't miss that! We also really enjoyed the Barberini and Spagna area! If you get a chance, walk down the Via dei Condotti starting at the Sanit Ambrogio e Carol al Corso and ending at the Spanish steps. This is the main throughfare for HIGH fashion and you won't want to miss it!

“good price/value”

This nice family hotel is out of the city center in a quiet and nice area, and we have to change public transport only at once: it's only 10 minutes by bus to the closest underground station and the bus stop is right next to the hotel. But buses come when they want :-) There are a lot of car parking places and it's free and safe, so very useful if you arrive to Rome by car. You can leave your vehicle here and go to the city center by public transport. Don't use your car in the city!

Traveller's tip
Very good for families: there is a big yard, restaurant and the garden is so nice. There are bigger rooms and bungalows for families. Also good for recreation: it's a quiet island not so far from the teeming city.

“Will use it again”

The hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful. They also spoke English. Information is freely available regarding bus and metro connections and tickets can be bought from the front desk. The journey time into the centre is about 30 minutes and we found this to be no trouble, even with a 2 year old. The breakfast is typically Italian so do not expect eggs and bacon!! The restaurant next to the hotel is very good and the prices are reasonable. We had a really nice stay and will be going again.

“Det var et hyggeligt hotel.”

Meget venlig betjening.

Getting there
Je kunt met de trein reizen heel eenvoudig vanuit het vliegveld. Met de bus wat ze busshuttel noemen Taxi is zeer duur
Shopping
Via del Corso en omgeving zeer mooi en vele winkels
