“Best location”
The Kolbe is a nice hotel, location is awesome with a great breakfast to start the day off (scrabble eggs, bacon, pastries, fruits, toast, breads, cereals, lunch meat, yogarts ect. Hot + cold breakfast foods to chose from) and excellant, helpful hotel staff. Location, location, location. Walking distance to serveral tourist sites and restuarants. Always felt safe walking back to hotel in the evening. Only suggestion is to offer inroom pay-preview movies in English for relaxing morning and evenings after several days of being on-the go. Rome is amazing, great price for location, small in size of course compared to US standards. Clean, wood floors, marble bathroom with towel warmer. Beds could be a little softer, but we still slept well! And it has a beautiful garden accessible from through the floor to ceiling doors in each room.
“Will return!”
Chose this hotel for it's location, as the ancient part of Rome was our reason for the trip, and it did not disappoint. Literally a few minutes away was the Roman Forum, and other Roman ruins could be seen from our bedroom window. All the other Attractions of Rome are easily reached by foot, though we did get the underground to Vatican City, but only to experience the underground. The Kolbe Hotel itself is very modern inside, and spotlessly clean throughout. The staff were very efficient and on the whole very welcoming, but one employee could have been a little friendlier upon checkout. My husband, who is a seasoned traveller, thought our room was a little small, and I was dismayed that there were no facilities in the room for making tea and coffee etc. However the bathroom was excellently equipped, and of course there was a mini-bar. The breakfast buffet was excellent - scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, cereal, fruit juice, fresh fruit, toast, cakes ,yoghurt, preserves and cold meat and cheese, croissants. Hot drinks were from a machine, which did disappoint as we did hope to have some fresh Italian coffee, not Nescafe from a machine! But, these are minor points which will not deter us from recommending or returning to this hotel.
“Very Satisfied”
We went during the off-season, so we were automatically put in one of the nicest rooms. The hotel was clean and conveniently located to other things in Rome. It's close to the Colosseum but not too close that you're surrounded by crowds and such at all hours of the day and night. The hotel also provided us with a detailed map that labeled all of the streets in Rome, which is extremely helpful for finding all of the landmarks and sights. Overall, we had a wonderful time at the Kolbe and in Rome. If we go back, we'll stay here again!
“Extremely impressed!”
I'm not one to leave reviews, regardless of my satisfaction, but Kolbe the best hotel I've stayed in. The comfort is certainly not what made it, but the concierges and help were super friendly, reliable and helpful for a couple of tourists looking for a more authentic Italian experience rather than a tourist-filled vacation. Our check-in was for 3pm but we arrived around 7am after 14 hours of travel and they were able to find a room to get us in within 15 minutes so we could shower and rest! Because of this we didn't get a nice view nor were the beds super comfortable, but we never missed sleep and you're in Rome who needs a view from the bedroom? Italy is about getting out! The shower was amazing with updates and jacuzzi jets with 2 shower heads. Free buffet breakfast every morning was spot-on. The location is great and a taxi to even the furthest points will be no more than ~8euros. 10 Stars!
“Wonderful hotel in a great location”
Kolbe Hotel is a very classy plush hotel right next to the Roman Forum. The hotel has a great back garden area with plenty of seating and grass area with orange, lemon and olive trees. We stayed in late November and the weather was great, especially to sit outside with a bottle of wine! The rooms are contempary with everything you need, except for an iron which was strange. The lounge is great to relax in and the restaurant serves some of the best food in Rome! Some may think the prices of the restaurant are on the high side but we have eaten in many other places and the price is the same, plus what we ate at the hotel was awesome! The Kolbe is one of the best and most comfortable hotels is Rome, you won't be disappointed!
“A beautiful hotel in the heart of Ancient Rome – Highly Recommended”
The Kolbe Hotel Rome met and exceeded all my expectations and I cannot recommend this 4 Star hotel highly enough. I would not hesitate to stay there if I returned to visit Rome again in the future. My room was a Standard Double, but the quality and size was in keeping with a Deluxe Double; comfortable, in superb condition and kept immaculately clean. The overall appearance of the hotel is modern, with a sense of elegant understatement; all areas were maintained to a superlative standard with exemplary cleanliness throughout, including the lobby toilets. A unique and delightful feature of the hotel is the rear garden, which has the atmosphere you would expect from a building which was a former monastery. The garden, weather permitting, in is a lovely place to relax and absorb the peaceful energy which pervades it. I found all the staff I spoke to friendly, helpful and efficient. I was made to feel very welcome and enjoyed their urbane, Latin charm mixed with the right level of attentiveness. The “American” format buffet breakfast is incredibly good value, with a generous array of hot and cold food/drinks. I don’t know what more you can ask for in Rome, except it being closer to the Vatican. The front of the hotel overlooks the back of the Palatine, which adjoins the Roman Forum. You can walk to the Palatine and Roman Forum complex from the hotel in about 10 to 15 minutes. The Colosseum is situated just to the other side of the Palatine.
“Nice hotel in a great location”
Having just stayed at the Kolbe Hotel I am really pleased to post this very positive report. The hotel is in a very good location, just a stones throw from the forum, and many other attractions. The staff are very helpful and happy to assist when needed. The room was very spacious, very comfortable and large by hotel standards. There is a great selection of choice at the buffet breakfast even if you are a vegetarian. My only bad word is that the rooms at the front of the hotel face onto the road, and this can be a little noisy due to the cobbled street. Having said this It certainly wouldn't stop me from staying at the Kolbe again. A great price hotel through Expedia on the trip we booked. Definitely 4 stars.
“Amazing Hotel at an Amazing Location!”
We were at Rome for one night so we were ready to pay the extra for a good location. However this great hotel cost us very little for a triple room and it was beyond our expectation. Great furniture, very modern design and a great staff! Our car had a flat tyre when we arrived and the great receptionist called 5 tyre stores for us to find our spesific tyre model! Parking is a bit of a problem but with its great location and friendly people this Hotel is the right choice for Rome!
“Excellent!”
I need say no more. 5 out of 5.
“Good hotel for families”
The Kolbe is a nice hotel is a quiet street directly overlooking the forum and Palatine hill. What they don't tell you is that you have to walk for about 10 minutes to get to the forum entrance as the entrance is round the other side. The best thing about the hotel is that it has rooms with mezzanine floors, so a family of four can sleep very comfortably without any overcrowding in one room. This is a good hotel for teenage and school age children. The cobbled streets might not be best for toddlers.
