“Very convenient in location, basic but quaint”

Nice hotel, convenient for sites, bathroom lovely bedroom decor needs modernising. Shame its next to a convent where the bells ring quite early in the morning. Helpful, friendly and knowledgeable receptionists. Breakfast pleasant. Adequate hotel for a short stay in central location and reasonable price.

“Stay recommended - excellent value for money.”

Staff very friendly. Stayed here approx 5 years ago and nothing had changed, hence a bit tired looking. Very helpful staff and great location. Towels changed every day. Air conditioned. Quiet base. Good for couples, singles and families alike.

“Great place, great price”

Hotel San Francesco is located in a lovely older neighborhood of Rome. A great location, super breakfast, helpful and willing to please employees... All five of us enjoyed our stay there and highly recommend it.

“It's like coming home to Grandma's”

I love Hotel San Francesco as there's no pretension. The breakfast food they serve is hearty, plentiful, with wide arry of choices, and did I mention great coffee? The service is perfect, non condescending, kind and helpful. Trastevere boasts of having the best places to eat in all of Rome. The city is very safe and what's most important to me, it's a minute away from a Catholic Church that has a mass every single day. Thanks Expedia, you were right in choosing this place.

“Great hotel”

This hotel is a gem and perfectly tucked away on a quiet street near the heart of Trastevere. Great base to be able to stop in room before dinner and close to public transit. You can walk to the major sites if you are active, but the public transit is great from the hotel.

“Highly recommended”

The hotel is in an ideal location for walking to all of the attractions central Rome has to offer and has numerous restaurants nearby. The staff were pleasant and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable with a lovely ensuite bathroom. If we visit Rome again, it would certainly be our first choice to stay.

Getting there
The pre-bookable shuttle service is worth doing. Just a word of warning - the instructions are not accurate. At the airport, the yellow desk on the left was the one we found to be administering the Expedia bookings and the agent wasn't holding a blue card as the instructions mentioned!

“Not a 3 star experience”

Bedspreads soiled, sticky doily under dish of candy, fingerprints on bedside tables... Needs a good cleaning. No outdoor space except on roof where tables bore dirty ashtrays at 10 a.m.

“Pocket hotel”

Small and responsive hotel in the right place, great staff willing to provide reservations for dinner and airport transportation and other services. Obscure address right in the center of things...provide it for the taxi driver.

“great hotel”

Hotel Francesco is a very comfortable and friendly hotel . It is well situated in Transevere and well linked to central Rome .The hotel staff were very knowledgeable about tram and bus routes to all of the attractions of Rome and were extremely helpful. The room was tidied daily and all bed linen and towels were changed daily which was a treat at the end of a long day walking the streets of Rome . Our stay was extended due to the volcano crisis and the hotel staff were superb . They helped to makes a very sressful situation better . Thankyou so much . Transevere is a great location . There are lots of shops,deli's and restaurants to explore and I felt safe the whole time .

Area recommendations
Trastevere was a good location as it was a 5 minute tram ride (number 8 ) to piazza argentina and from there you were within walking distance from central Rome . The buses on the next road also took us to termini train station and the colosseum with just a 30 minute journey . What was also nice was that you were out of the hustle and bustle of central Rome and Trastevere was were the real Roman people lived too . Frontini's was a great place to eat . The staff were friendly, the food was delicious and reasonably priced. A great stop at the end of the day for a coffee and cake .
