“Great central location!”
We stayed at Hotel Raffaello during the Thanksgiving 2011 holiday. I had done a lot of research and found this hotel to have a great value. The hotel is within walking distance to many of the attractions and a 10-minute walk to the Termini station where we would go each day to hop on the bus, metro, or train. Breakfast is included in the price, which was a huge plus. The food was great and now my 15 year old is hooked on croissants! Wi-Fi was extremely slow at times so make sure to plan ahead. The room was very comfortable and the triple bed layout was perfect if you are traveling with a teenager who wants their own space. The only reason I gave it a "4" was because the bed was too firm for me (but husband thought it was fine). The surrounding neighborhood was very safe but there was a homeless person camped out across the street from the hotel which is why I gave it a "4" also. Overall our stay was very comfortable, staff was welcoming (housekeepers were always smiling and whistling or singing), and reception was always there to answer questions or give suggestions. We would definitely stay there again.
“Convenient, exceptional breakfast, great value”
Very happy to find this excellent value in Rome. I rated the comfort less than perfect only because the bed was a bit too firm for my preference but nevertheless the room was restful and comfortable. Ample linens, storage & space in tasteful decor. Nice bathroom. Pleasant staff, excellent free breakfast and good locale make this a fine stay. Just a few blocks and a brief walk from the termi train and transportation station. Restaurants in the immediate vicinity are sometimes run by other than Italians serving Italian cuisine; I overheard a few guests in these several eateries disappointed, questioning their waiter following service. I too inquired before ordering whether the place is authentic and chose to walk out of more than one. Around the squares I found authentic Italian and excellent, unmatched food. Buses were very crowded and this hotel is not central to all sites, but walking Rome was a joy not to be missed. The coloseum and forum are 10 -15 minutes on foot and in the same vicinity is the monument to the unknown soldier amid spectacular ruins. For my visit, this beautiful square served as my city center and refence point. In that plan, the Raffaello Hotel played quite well. The trade for value, and convenience to the train station make this a very good choice with no regrets. I saved this locale to my favorites and will recommend it to others traveling into Rome. It may be rated a 3 star but I give it highest marks. Opera only a few blocks away.
“Excellent location”
Hotel Raffaello is in the perfect location. Everything in ancient Rome is walkable from this hotel and the Termini Station is close by if you want to take the subway. I had a single room which was petite but worked for my needs. The staff was very helpful and the breakfast had many options.
“Brief Trip”
The hotel is in a convenient location although our personal guide suggested we always take a left when leaving the hotel; the neighborhood appeared to be in transition to a brighter and cleaner artist neighborhood. The room was comfortable and clean with a very small shower. The breakfast was excellent and efficiently served. Our first evening we found the evening clerk a bit stiff. Overall, we had an excellent visit and would consider a return visit.
“Beautiful hotel with wonderful staff”
Charming hotel with wonderful staff.
“Pleasant and handy.”
Very impressed with all staff we met. A decent breakfast selection. Nice room and bathroom, although bed a little on the hard side. Shower will forever be a talking point, - very small and cramped, trying to double as a stand up jacuzzi, when there was clearly insufficient room for this and to be able to wash one's self. However for a couple of nights it was perfectly fine, but for a longer stay you might wish for a little more bathing space.
“Excellent location”
We loved the fact that all the key sites were within walking distance of the hotel. The staff were welcoming, polite and helpful. They recommended a lovely restaurant nearby. The rooms were pleasant and peaceful.
“Superb little hotel--quality like a four-star”
The Raffaello is probably one of the best three-star hotels in Rome. The whole hotel has been refurbished and is totally modernized and tastefully furnished and decorated. The bathrooms are all tile and marble with modern fixtures. The beds are comfortable (but somewhat too firm for our taste). Everything is spotless. The breakfast is excellent and served in an attractive dining room off the lobby. The desk clerks are helpful and responsive. Location is good--close to Santa Maria Maggiore, easy walk to the Forum and to the Central Station and the Metro. A couple of very good moderately-priced restaurants within a block or two. All in all, a wonderful place to stay in Rome. Strongly recommended.
“Great little hotel!”
Great location, 10min walk to Colosseum and no more than 10 euro cab ride to any other areas. Very clean, friendly/helpful staff - got some great restaurant recommendations from the night reception man. Great breakfast. We were party of 6 (2 couples, 1 with kids) but they gave us both 2 quad rooms - very spacious - 2 separate bedrooms plus bathroom, great! Only negative comment i can think of and i see mentinoed by others is the shower is very small - you cannot actually turn around in it. But not a big deal and it wouldn't stop me from staying here again.
“great value in Rome!”
We stayed at Hotel Raffaello, September 27th through October 2nd, 2011. It is a great value in Rome! At first I thought we made a mistake when we were just a few blocks from the main train / metro station - Roma Termini. Also it was overwhelming when our taxi went down a narrow, cobbled alley to get to the hotel - but all the streets are like this! Ha! Hotel is spotless, excellent breakfast, staff was friendly and very helpful! Our room was nice for the price, very quiet, bed and pillows VERY firm, good bathroom. And the location proved to be great - we walked to termini to go anywhere on metro or bus and also easy to get a cab from hotel. I would definitely recommend this charming, affordable hotel in Rome!
