“Would certainly go back.”
Hotel was in nice location with restaurants/bars close by. Everyone very friendly and welcoming. Bus and railway station walking distance of hotel so easy to hop on sightseeing bus each day. Only think missing was tea/coffee facilities in rooms. There was a hot water machine in the breakfast room which could have been left on for guests convenience to make our own drinks when we wanted them.
“Gonna stay here every time!!!”
Very cheap hotel on a little side street off Via Nazionale. Only 5 mins walk from Termini and less than 15 mins down to Piazza Venezia. Quaint exterior with an entrance through a little green door. A rickety old lift up to the third floor adds to the charm. But once you get out on the third floor and find the reception it opens out onto a very modern hotel. Reception is very helpful, breakfast is served from 07:30-10:00. Could be a little more choice on the buffet table. Rooms are lovely and spacious. Nice big beds. Could have an extra pillow in the wardrobe. Room 316 has a nice big bathroom and all rooms have a rain shower. 309 is perfectly adequate, if a littlle noisy with the windows open, as it faces out on Via Palermo. But a great hotel with very friendly staff in a very convenient location for very very very good value. Would definitely recommend and will be staying here every time I am in Rome.
“ideal location for many of Rome's sights”
The hotel staff are friendly, breakfast was fine, pastries, cereal, tea coffee etc. close to Crntral Rail Terminal and within walking distance to many of the sights that are a must for visitors to Rome. When booking this Hotel had much better reviews than many of the higher graded hotels and that was one of the reasons we chose it. The only things missing were tea and coffee in the room and wi-fi, the wi-fi we could do without for the few days we were there but we really missed the last cup of tea/coffee of the day and the chance for a coffee when we returned to the hotel after our daily sightseeing before heading out to eat. The Breakfast room has a coffee machine but this was not available other than breakfast - would have been a simple fix to make the machine available to guests at other times. Overall though a good base for Rome city break.
“A real GEM of a hotel in the heart of Rome!”
I booked this hotel as I was planning a week's stay in Rome in November 2011. I have to say I was not disappointed! The hotel is on the third floor of an old building right in the centre of Rome, but because it is on a side street it is very quiet and peaceful. Arriving there, I walked from the Rome Termini station which took about 10 minutes and the hotel was easy to find. Although the hotel is on the third floor there is a lift so it is no problem if you have heavy cases. The hotel itself is small but modern and recently refurbished, and everywhere was immaculately clean and tidy. My room was a good size with a large double bed, large bathroom and sliding windows opening out onto a balcony facing a quiet courtyard. The bed itself was a bit on the firm side, but extra pillows and blankets were easily obtainable at reception. Breakfast at the hotel was of the simple continental style (breads and pastries, cereal, juice and coffee) but there was plenty of it and it was excellent quality (the freshly squeezed orange juice was heavenly!) In terms of location, the hotel is PERFECT!: 5-10 minutes walk from most of Rome's attractions (Colosseum, Trevi fountain, Spanish steps, Forum etc.), close to subway and to Rome Termini station. Staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful, with recommendations for restaurants nearby. When in Rome, you cannot do better than this hotel! Value for money is EXCELLENT! I have stayed in 4 star hotels which were not as good as this place!
“Will stay there again.”
Basic but this is reflected in the price. Close to major attractions. Very clean. Extremely helpful stuff.
“Amazing place to stay in Rome!”
My partner are from Toronto Canada and stayed in Rome the last week of September (2011). This hotel was awesome. Clean, good size, HUGE full bathroom and you couldn't ask for a better location. The only downfall was that it was located on the 3rd floor of a building, so the first day we arrived (and when we left) with all our luggage, it was a little difficult. There is an elevator- but very tiny. I took the stairs most of the time, which was no sweat. The front door staff was great, very helpful and even arranged a ride to the airport for us on our last day. The do make you leave the room key at the front desk when you leave- which I thought was a little strange, but it's 24h front door staff and we never had a problem. From this location, you can walk to the Coliseum, Trevi fountain, Spanish steps or the Termini train station in (literally) 10 min. We took a 15 min cab ride to the Vatican one day. I would most definitely stay here again, it was an enjoyable experience.
“Very good”
Very nice, the people was kind and helpful, also very nice area, you can walk or take a bus to a lot of turist places, close to terminal station and coliseum, I definitely return to this hotel.
“I would definatly stay here again”
This is a great hotel for the price. Its not luxury but they dont advertise to be luxurious either. That being sad it could easily be a 4 star hotel. The serve breakfast in the morning, clean towels, clean sheets, clean room daily. The rooms were a good size and spacious the bathrooms are updated and enough room to move around. Best part of the hotel is the staff and location. Our first time to Rome and the front desk was a HUGE help. One of the workers named Julio was the biggest help. He recommend great local places to eat and go. He answered all of my questions and needs. He also set us up with our hotel in Florence. Not to mention he called in reservations for us as well. Very happy with this stay and would do it again. OH....IT IS WALKING DISTANCE TO EVERYTHING. My wife and I walked to Vatican, Coliseum, Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain...pretty much everywhere from this hotel.
“When in Rome”
The Hotel was in a perfect location. We could walk about 5-10 minutes from the main Train Station to get to it. Also we were about a 10 minute walk to the Colosseum and the forum. The staff was very friendly, and the hotel room was clean. The bathroom was modern and we were overall very happy with the hotel!
“A perfect base for exploring Rome”
We stayed at the Galatea for four nights in March 2011 and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for an affordable, no-frills base in a great location. My favourite aspect of the hotel was the fact that our room looked over a peaceful inner courtyard rather than the street and so was wonderfully quiet at night for such a centrally-located hotel. The room itself was modern, clean and comfortable. I was also impressed by the friendliness of the staff, who were very helpful when we asked for directions to the sights we intended to visit. If I had to choose the weakest point of the hotel, this would probably be the breakfast, which was pretty basic, but the rest of our experience at the Galatea was so positive that this didn't really matter to us. All in all, a great little find and I would definitely stay here again.
