“Small but comfortable with excellent service”

Hotel Doria was a pleasure to stay in for our week long holiday to Rome. We had a double room for the two of us. Here are the key points: Friendly staff always ready with a smile Towels (2 hand, 2 body) changed daily Bed linen changed once during the week WiFi is available for an additional fee Shower was small, about 3/4 the size of a standard UK shower cubicle. Room and en-suite cleaned daily Double bed was two singles pushed together Breakfast (7.30 to 9.30am) was standard continental including croissants, rolls, yogurts, ham, cheeses, cereal, juice, coffee, etc. Air conditioned room TV in room with Italian channels only Mini bar fridge with space for your own drinks Small room safe with user-set combination lock (about A5 size) 7 minutes walk from Termini station You can see the Colosseum from the roof terrace!

“Lovely small hotel, in a perfect location”

This is lovely small hotel in a perfect location to all the local attractions. Hop on/hop off bus is just around the corner and there are plenty of restaurants surrounding the hotel. Staff were extremely friendly and spoke good English. Breakfast had a nice selection of items and was just perfect before a busy day of site seeing. Overall I can't really fault this hotel, only perhaps that the showers were tiny! I would definitely recommend this hotel to others.

“Very pleasant stay”

Our twin room had a view of the Santa Maria Maggiore and the Colosseum (in the distance) and was clean, pleasant and suitably accommodated 2 adults. Continental breakfast was served on the roof with the view of Rome. My only comment would be that the lift could only fit 1 adult with a case so if you're travelling with children this may cause difficulties.

“Great hotel”

It was really good located, near all best attractions. Clean room, clean bath, LCD TV, cable, heater was perfect (it was December & too cold in Rome), great complimentary breakfast. The only inconvenience was that wireless internet was not working so we could not use it in the complete stay, they said it will be fixed but didn't happen in the 3 nights we were there. I would definitely return there if possible.

“Great location”

The hotel was great! The lift worked....only fit 1 person at a time. The air was cool and the location was great. The breakfest on the roof top was nice. I told them they should leave access to the roof at night for guest...it would have been nice. The housekeeper was not very nice and refused to clean up the restroom after my wife got sick from the bus ride....the only downer

“Would Definitely Stay Again”

We enjoyed our stay immensely. Breakfast on the roof was lovely, with a view of the top of the Collosseum. The room was clean and very adequate.

“Rome is beautiful”

Excellt city with so much history. Hotel Doria is very decent for a 3*. Clean, continental breakfast was good, location was good (10-15min walk from station and collussem). Only bad points about hotel is the Lift is very small, the towels are very thin and the shower is small, but if your not 6'7ft+ or 18st its very good.

“Pretty good hotel”

Hotel Doria is located very close to the railway station (station termini), 10 minutes tops, or like me, 45 minutes because I took a wrong turn and went waltzing around the hotel, always missing it by a street ;-) Check it went very smoothly, the hotel staff were in general very friendly. The staff in charge of the brekkie area do not speak english, but it's pretty obvious what type of hot drink you would like (few types of coffee, hot chocolate, tea etc). Breakfast is quite light of the continental sort, so usually for me it's like a bowl of flakes, croissant with some meat filling. Other stuff includes a selection of cheese, packaged meats, plums, panetonne, and lots of packaged crackers, cookies etc. Would have loved scrambled eggs but oh well :) Oh, the view from the brekkie area is great - you get to see the Colosseum from there! Only downside I can think of - from the perspective of a heavy tea drinker - is the lack of a hot water kettle, cups and spoons. With respect to travel, it's about a 15 minute walk to the Colosseum, less, if you know how to cut through the various small streets. From there, it's easy access to the rest of the attractions, though Piazza Navona was a bit of a walk. There is also a metro station around the corner, and if you know the small roads, it's like a 2-3 minutue walk. Quick access to Vatican City, and because you are starting south of Station Termini, there is usually space for a seat. I'd definitely recommend it.

“A good choice/good location for the price.”

I found the Doria hotel very pleasant. We were here for 7 days, had a good size room, first floor, facing the front of the building. The guys in reception were helpful and charming. Termini station two minutes walk. A few of the attractions are at walking distance, in fact the first day we almost covered most of the tourists attractions by walking (maybe not such a good idea), we just kept on walking. I am not able to compare the breakfast with other hotels in Rome, but I found it to be very good. We certainly did not leave the breakfast area with an empty stomach. If the weather is nice they have an open roof terrace with a view (can see Coloseum etc). My only negative would have to be the other guests who although you say good morning some respond with a blank look. Oh well! I'm too friendly, always smile and I was on holiday for heavens sake, even through it rained for 5 days. I think the only concern for some would be the size of the shower. Probably average, and quadrant design - not a problem for us. They also use the old fashion towels (thick cotton) - not a real problem for us either. Real towels would have been nice though. Would not have a problem in staying in the Doria again. Loved the lady (can't remember her name... sorry!) serving breakfast.

“Perfect location”

The Hotel Doria was lovely. It was so clean and comfortable. The breakfast terrace was perfect with lovely views across the city. The staff were very welcoming, helpful and pleasant and spoke perfect English. It was ideally situated for walking everywhere plus the Termini was only minutes away. Just one thing though it is situated on a busy main road with the Santa Maria church yards away. During the evening it was quite noisy but having read a previous review we were prepared with ear plugs, just in case, so the noise never bothered us. I would love to return to Rome and would definately use the Hotel Doria again.
