“perfect!”
Can't recommend this hotel highly enough! Its location is perfect for seeing all the sights in Rome - all within easy walking distance. Staff are welcoming and extremely helpful. Our room was at the front of the hotel and was clean, spacious, well appointed and very quiet. Breakfast was a feast - buffet of bread, rolls, meat, scrambled egg, cakes, yoghurt etc and served in a pretty room. Will definitely rebook when we visit Rome again - which I hope will be soon. Wonderful city and a great hotel.
“What a fantastic trip?”
Excellent hotel that we can't fault room amazing food excellent, walking distance to all major tourist points yet still in a quiet area, with some lovely local restaurants. Staff were pleasant, an amazing trip
“Super Hotel in great location.”
We stayed at Hotel Dei Mellini for 6 days in September, 2011 and can't say enough good things about it. The staff were extremely polite and accommodating, from the moment we arrived to departure. From the young ladies at the front desk to the bellhop, everybody was ready to help. The room was a generous size and the bathroom had a large good shower which is unusual for most European hotels. The breakfast was excellent and the 'hot' items made for a great breakfast over just a 'Continental'. What you will notice above all is the cleanliness. From your room to the public areas, everything is spotless. This in itself is getting harder to find in a lot of the smaller hotels throughout Europe. Wonderful hotel and the location is perfect for sightseeing. Highly recommend and we will definitely return.
“Mellini - excellent base to see Rome”
My wife and I booked a trip to Rome, staying at the Mellini for our wedding anniversary. We carefully research where we stay as we prefer to pay more to ensure quality. Our impression of Mellini started very positively - I contacted the hotel prior to our trip to ask for restaurant recommendations and they replied almost immediately with excellent suggestions of where to eat. On arrival, the reception staff were very helpful, providing a map and identifying key attractions, as well as advising on bus routes. The room was well appointed, with a lovely entrance area and balcony doors in the bedroom (we were on the top floor). The level of service was superb - they even sent up a bottle of prosecco to celebrate our anniversary! The buffet breakfasts were a good quality, with a varied selection of food available. We would definitely recommend the Mellini for it's location near the Vatican (only the Colosseum was just beyond walking reach in the August heat), the excellent personal service, and the friendly atmosphere. The hotel appearance and quality of furnishings is also very good. We didn't manage to see everything in our 4 days, so we will need to go back one day (Rome is a beautiful & friendly city, and has very good restaurants & shopping), and would happily stay at the Mellini again as we greatly enjoyed our stay.
“Great spacious rooms! Great area!”
This hotel had very nice spacious rooms. It was a short 10 minute walk to the Spanish Steps and a lot of restaurants. The hotel itself is in a quiet neighborhood. The only thing that bothered us was of all the 6 cities we visited on this trip this was the only hotel that charged for the wireless Internet.
“Good Hotel”
Good Hotel, Clean, close to the Vatican and Center, walking distance.
“Clean, safe, convenient, superb staff, great continental breakfast!”
We travelled with our children ages 11 and 12. We were all impressed at the hotel and the information the staff provided. Everyone was very helpful. The hotel was within safe walking distance to most attractions. Maps were provided. Internet service was available for a nominal fee if needed. The staff would research your destination for free and provide printouts if needed. The hotel was clean, quiet at night, and breakfast was very good. We would highly recommend this hotel.
“Convenient location - good hotel”
This hotel worked well for us. It is in a convenient location allowing us to walk safely to the majority of the sights. The hotel staff were courteous and helpful. The rooms were clean and large by European standards. The beds were acceptable but not great. The breakfast buffet was appreciated with a good range of options to choose from. I would stay here again if travelling to Rome
“Good hotel in convenient location for most Rome landmarks.”
The Dei Mellini is located in a convenient location, close enough to many famous landmarks and the Via del Corso (shopping) but not on a busy street. Roof top terrace was lovely and completely underutilized - great spot for a glass of wine after a day visiting Roma. It is listed as a 4 star but North Americans need to be aware that the 4 star designation in Italy can be varied and won't reflect 4 star expectations in a North American facility. Recommendation re attraction - pre-book! You'll avoid long lines during peak tourist season - also if you are traveling by train, pre-book in 1st class - you are guaranteed a seat, room for your luggage and comfortable travel but don't expect to buy food on board - the food cart is as good as it gets. While in Rome if you are looking for some North American style food, visit the Hard Rock - it is on a lovely street and if you sit in the outside pavillion you can watch the sights while having a good meal. Also, North Americans will want to check out the "swankiest McDonalds in the world" - you'll be groaning to read this but it is worth while just to see it and also has neat things like banana strawberry frappes - location is to the right of the Spanish Steps but look closely - no Golden Arches here - only a doorway that leads into a very well-concealed location. For an authentic Italian experience for dinner, have the hotel staff direct you to the local family owned restaurant within easy walking distance of the hotel.
