“Definitely recommended”
We were very pleased with the Grand Hotel Tiberio. Staff were efficient, helpful and friendly. Hotel was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent. Hotel is located in a residential area and is half an hour's walk from the Vatican but provides a free shuttle service into the City at specific times. It's on a local bus route into the centre and buses are quite frequent. Metro stop is round the corner. Variety of restaurants from 10-20 minutes' walk away. Altogether perfect for our stay.
“Cant wait to return to Rome & the hotel!”
Once at the hotel the staff were great, room was a good size, extreamly clean and bathroom also very clean a great plus! Tea & coffee etc inthe room which was great at the end of the day! Resturant was good, plenty to eat & drink, lovley bar, lounge, and had it been warmer the terrace on the top floor over looking Rome was great! The walk to Vatican sq was 9 mins, and there was a courtesy bus every 20mins from the hotel door. We would certainly recommend and return to Grand Tiberio without hesitation Carol & Steve from Carlisle
“Gem of a find in Rome”
I stayed at this hotel from 29th April to 6th May 2009.The hotel staff were very friendly and professional from the moment I stepped into the hotel. As I checked in I was given a city map and a warm welcome by the hotel reception staff.I was in a twin room(single occupation). The room was clean and very comfortable.I used the hotel lounge bar each night and by the 2nd night the staff had memorised my drinks order and had them ready for me when they saw me walk in.The bar staff were brilliant and could not have been more friendlier. As a single traveller this is always very important to me.The food at the hotel(breakfast was included-buffet) was very good. There was everything from cereals/fruit/meat & cheese/Danish pasteries.I ate dinner in the hotel restuarant 1 evening and the food was excellent along with the service.I throughly enjoyed my stay at this hotel and would highly recommend it to anyone. The staff are very polite, friendly and professional at all times.Everyone's English was perfect and the staff were very patient and were very willing to help me improve my Italian language skills which I was very appreciative of.The hotel is a 20mins walk from the Vatican museum. It's a very easy walk,if you do not fancy the walk there is a mini-bus service run by the hotel that you can use that will drop you at the Vatican museum.
“'Would recommend'”
Do not be put off by any negative comments about this hotel! The hotel is clean, modern and airy. Staff were extremely helpful and the reception staff exceptionally knowledgeable, with reference to bus and train information and local eateries! The hotel is only a 15 minute walk to the Vatican. Ample breakfast, large clean towels every day.
“very friendly hotel”
it was a nice friendly hotel all the services promised were there, al the staff were helpful and friendly and the position suited our needs
“Very accommodating, clean, tidy and very helpful”
Very well presented hotel, spacious and clean rooms, accommodating staff, continental breakfast was very adequate to last for the best part of the day, very close to Vatican City, in fact not far from a lot of the sites. Between three of us we shared a cab (arranged by the hotel) to the Colleseum and Forum for Euros 15, and that was really good. The local transport is excellent to get about Rome. Will recommend and return next year.
“Good location and service”
The hotel is within walking distance of the city centre but is located in a quiet suburb. The free shuttle to either the Vatican or downtown is a real boon and is always prompt. The breakfast buffet is the usual continental style and although nothing to write home about, there is a decentt selection and plenty of it. All the staff are helpful and will try their best to help you with any queries or problems.
“Grand Hotel Tiberio a short stay.”
The hotel was spotlessly clean and appeared well maintained, very friendly and efficient staff. Very nicely located in a quiet residential area, but only 20 minutes walk to the vatican. 100 metres to the nearest Metro station means that you are only 15 minutes away from the centre of the city. Breakfasts were ok however the scrambled eggs were always rubbery and needed seasoning, dinners were ok but the restaurant lacked any Italian or Roman ambiance, However a 5 minute walk down the hill from the hotel led us on the first evening to a restaurant called Caselli's which was a delight, superb food, good prices and very very Italian, the Caselli family will really look after you and serve you some superb meals.
“Positives outweigh negatives”
Quite a grand looking hotel which is quite different to its surroundings. Good sized rooms and huge en suite. Good breakfast and evening meal options. Had all the necessary comfort features, which were necessary given the distance to the nearest Metro. There's a small shuttle bus (8 people) which runs 4 morning trips to the vatican and city centre - this fills quickly (need to book before the trip for the first day maybe?). If you're not that lucky, walking to Cipro metro took about 15 minutes which was very manageable. (Vatican city is a further 5 minute walk). The area's not the most beautiful to walk through and the walk back is a steep one. Taxi's from the city centre ranged from 7 - 13 euros dependent on driver and meter charges. Rome is absolutely amazing and this hotel makes for a good base to explore from. Some of the staff we came across didn't have the sunniest or most courteous of dispositions but were always able to give efficient advice.
“A Fine Hotel”
Apart from an odd hiccough over the reservation, our booking went to plan. This is a modern, spacious hotel, with pleasant staff who tried to be helpful. There is a useful minibus service to the Vatican and to the City – but remember to book seats with reception (it doesn’t mention that you should do this). The room was clean and well maintained. The balcony looked out over a semi-residential suburb. On the downside, we would have liked better ventilation for the en-suite bathroom. The breakfast buffet included a wide selection of dishes, but the bread didn’t suggest the sort of freshness we take for granted in the UK. The hotel is situated on the same side of the river as the Vatican and quaint Trastevere area (with its myriad of small restaurants). But you do need to cross the river to reach the ancient sites and most of the other main churches. So, unless you like city walking, the hotel is just a little too far out to ‘pop back’ during the day – especially if you’ve just visited one of the famous Hills of Rome. Overall, a good, clean and well-run hotel.
