“Great hotel, ideal location”
Grand Hotel Olympic is a very good hotel which I would recommend to others. It is situated just 5 minutes walk from the Vatican and St Peter's with all Rome's other main tourist attractions within easy walking distance. The hotel is very clean and the staff extremly polite and helpful. Breakfast was also very good comprising of a buffet style with ham, cheese, eggs, salami, rolls, croissants, yoghurts, toast etc. tea, coffee and fresh orange and pineapple juices. Fresh fruit was the only thing missing. If I return to Rome, I will definately stay at this hotel again.
“Four days in Rome”
Opted for the shuttle bus transfer from the Airport to Hotel. Air conditioned minibus took about an hour with several other drop off. Grand Hotel Olympic- Aurum Hotel in situated with a few minutes walk of the Vatican and St Peters and Ottaviano Metro Station. Excellent buffet breakfast included. Room and facilities were comfortable and inlcuded air conditioning. Two excursions booked - All day Vatican City (entry St Peters, Musuems, Sistine Chapel) and Ancient Rome walking tour (icluded entry Forum and Collisium). Both good value and excellent guides, we really did beat the queues as advertised. An excellent trip - I would recommend it to anyone interested in seeing Romes treasures.
“Perfectly placed !!!!!!!!”
The hotel was great, being a student i wanted something simple,(i was put off by website photos, dont be they just havent been updated in years i think!!!!!) this hotel is quite simple. The service is excellent the room was clean, tidy and the bathroom was the best part it was so tidy and clean. I think they had refurbished the bathroom lately. the hotel is a five minute walk from St. Peter's( just turn left and walk straight!!!) The bar is small, simple and cheap( compared to everywhere else) Watch out for the bar round the corner 10euro for a vodka and coke!!!!!! the service staff were lovely though, very pleasant and they were one of the best reasons why i would defintely return to the hotel!!!!!
“Excellent but shame about the coffee”
Overall rating of hotel was excellent. Staff friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was good but shame about the coffee. It tasted of chicory and although a complaint was made about it (Italy being well known for good coffee) was advised to ask for a capuccino or an expresso. There was no problem with this and it was served by the waiter who, after the first occasion, new my order and brought it promptly each morning.
“Excellent Hotel, well located”
Have just returned from a 5 day stay in this hotel. Firstly the staff should be commended for their friendliness and helpfulness, from the reception staff down to the chambermaid they were so friendly. The hotel itself was excellent, very clean and quite up to date. Breakfast was plentiful and excellent choices of continental fayre. Would recommend this hotel to anyone for sightseeing purposes.
“Perfect hotel for Rome sightseeing”
We'd read a lot of mixed reviews about this hotel, but have to say we found it ideal. Its situation, on a shopping street just five minutes' walk from St Peter's Square and with great bus links, was the major plus. Our quad room was a decent size, spotlessly clean and very comfortable, and we slept well at night. The breakfast in the morning was functional, with undrinkable coffee, but otherwise suited our purposes just fine. The lobby staff were always very helpful.
“Nice quiet presentable hotel”
No complaints about this hotel. I would easily go back. It is well kept, has a good reception, and is fair value. It is handy for the Metro, St Pete's and the Vaticano, for walks into the Old Town Centre, or even further across to the Colloseum and ancient Ancient Rome. But do not expect english signs. And expect to get a stiff neck from looking at painted ceilings, basilicas, pillars and tall fountains all day or night long. Fortunately there was plenty hot water to soak in at the hotel and a comfortable bed. But having stayed in hotels in Rome before. I would only remind any new visitors not to expect much chat, or anything remotely like what a Brit would call a breakfast.. Its not rudeness or shyness just the Roman way, or idea of service, in my opinion. And only down side here was the breakfast coffee which was not great, no hot chocolate, and watery fruit juice. But then some other Hotels do not even give you a breakfast, so not too bad. And non the less as far as four star hotels go I thought this was pretty good. Although I do think, from my past experiences, that perhaps when you book through Expedia, the hotels make sure to give you the better rooms. Pity I can't always say that as regards the Airlines. Arrivederci
“'Central location'”
This hotel was very good value for money. The twin room was spacious and the bathroom large with an excellent shower. Staff were helpul and efficient. Only one snag the inside of the wardrobe had a foostie smell.
“Convenient for Vatican, restaurants and Metro”
This hotel has small rooms, but who is really staying in the room? It is less than 5 mins walk from the Vatican and also from the Metro. LOADS of reasonably priced restaurants nearby - we went up on the street with the subway. It's a GREAT place to walk around at night. I'd happily go back to this hotel! BREAKFAST: was really enjoyable. It was quite a wide selection of lunchmeats, cheese, yogurt, fruit, cereals, GREAT coffee (!!!) and juices.
“basic but great value for money”
the hotel was clean, very well located and offered good basic amenetries, overall I thought it was a bit of a a bargain
