“hotel on hill above Rome”
Staff helpful and friendly. hotel small and compact roof top breakfast room would have been much nicer if the views were not impeded by the plants on the window sills. View available right across to St Peters could just be seen through a gap which was a shame. Linen changed daily . restaurant food was not that good limited menu and expensive.Breakfast was adequate. On top of a hill so had to walk up hill back not much good if walking is difficult for you but in a fairly good location to most sights lots of restaurants and tratarias at bottom of hill. would go back.
“Rome with the family - you have to stay here!”
We stayed at this hotel in July 2011 and were very happy with the experience. The location of Trastevere is a lovely15 minute walk from some of the major tourist areas. We appreciated being in a quiet location away from the masses of people who visit Rome in the summer. The hotel itself is smaller (less than 100 rooms I think) but has many key comforts. First off, there is a pool. Our kids loved being able to visit a tourist attraction and then come back to the hotel and cool off with a lovely swim or relax in the shade but the pool. The day started with an amazing breakfast in the top floor restaurant. The staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming. The food was fresh and consisted of lovely fruit, the usual continental items such as croissants, bread, cheese and yogurt but also included hot eggs and bacon and sausages. The rooms were the typical European room size (smaller than north american) but had crisp clean sheets and the floors were a lovely tile that was cool and well kept. The rooms also had windows that could open with shutters to keep out the sun and heat as well as being air conditioned. Overall our experience with this hotel was wonderful. I highly recommend it and would encourage you to use this hotel if you are planning a visit to Rome.
“Hope to Go Back!”
We loved the hotel and the area in which it was located. The staff was incredibly friendly and very patient with our lack of ability to speak Italian. Breakfast was delicious, with a wide variety of fruits, meats, cheese, and pastries. We loved the scenic walk down to Trastevere, where we had some of the best meals of our trip. I would definatly reccomend this hotel to anyone taking a trip to Rome!
“Two star rooms and service”
Would recommend only if the customer appropriately lowers their expectation to that of a two star hotel that makes some important mistakes. Check-in was offputting - given a back room behind reception that was in disrepair and looked like a spare room for the night staff. Front desk said they were fully booked, but did switch us to a better room the remaining stay, but even that took some back and forth. Not what I expected, given that I prepaid. Breakfast buffet was good. Location is OK if you don't mind the uphill trek back up to the hotel from Trastevere (or you are cabbing it / taking the buses). We didn't mind the remote location, and it is only a 20 minute walk to the heart of Trastevere.
“Great hotel.....good walk to most places”
We picked this hotel because of certain reviews. None of them made it clear the hotel is at the top of a steep hill. As it turns out, the exercise was great as we needed it after all the great dinners down in town. It is about a 20 minute brisk walk away from the main section of Trastevere. The hotel itself is great! Very beautiful with a friendly staff, clean, and quiet.
“"Rome's Best Kept Secret?"”
I have stayed in some of the top rated hotels in Rome over the years, but this hotel is still my favorite. It's location is the best, while nestled in a very upscale residential area with a lot less traffic noise than you get in some of the other areas, but within walking distance of some of Rome's largest attractions. The food there is great and the staff were delightful and most understood or spoke English. The hotel structure itself is historic in nature and very well managed with special attention to detail in the outdoor garden areas. There is only one little negative comment that I would add and that is the fact that there is a "Childrens Hospital" right around the corner and you do hear your share of sirens. This could be a positive thing if you are traveling with children, though. The good quality windows, when closed made the room very quiet. I highly recommend this hotel for business or pleasure if you are looking for that special place to call"home away from home in Rome".
“Not pleased”
The hotel grounds were beautiful, but the condition of our room was horrible. This was the first time I booked through Expedia, and if this is the quality of the rooms they give your clients, I would hesitate to use Expedia again.
“Beautiful hotel set a little far out the way”
The hotel itself was lovely. The deco was quite impressive, a nice pool and all interiors were clean and well looked after. The staff were also nice and if you make an effort to use italian pleasentries they seem to like you a little more. The hotel is placed in the middle of the main attractions and the Vatican so it is quite a walk to each of them but both walks are pretty and in no way boring but make sure you wear good shoes if you are not going to opt for a taxi.
“Very Good, but be aware ...”
The Hotel was comfortable and staff in general were pleasant and helpful. It provides a very pleasant environment convenient for the centre of Rome if you can cope with the walk. The walk up the hill from town is likely to get you sweating. There were 3 things worth noting: 1. The only real complaint. The coffee provided on the breakfast buffet table was appalingly bad. This would not be a problem, as one can ask the waiter for real coffee (espresso). However, after the first few mornings, the waiter became surly and seemed reluctant to oblige, appearing determined to avoid noticing us. Either we should have been paying for the espressi (in which case he might have told us), or he was expecting a tip each day, rather than at the end of our stay. I'm afraid it was so bad that he did not get a tip at all. Of course, we may have done something else to offend, but I don't know what. 2. The room we were given was comfortable enough , but very, very small, with a view restricted to the internal roofed courtyard. I suppose they have to give this room to someone, so no real complaint. We arrived very late, so I don't know what would have happend had we asked to change. 3. To use the swimming pool, my wife had to buy a cap. This was not unreasonable, but unexpected. Seems to be normal for Italy though.
“Wish i was still there!”
First of all, Rome is fantastic! I recommend, no i emplore you to visit Rome. Obviously accomodation is an important point of enjoying a holiday and we enjoyed our hotel. After reading previous reviews i was slightly disheartened as there were many mentions of location and distance from places, i found those to be completely untrue. We had to walk for a max of 25 minutes to get to the furthest away places, althought that may seem a lot but you forget, you're in Rome! You forget about distance as you look in all the shops and get fantastic views as you're up on a hill. We got a taxi once out of the entire holiday and that is because we had a massive meal and were stupidly full! The hotel was great, the room was nice and a decent size. The cleaning staff were tremendous and our room always looked as if we hadnt slept there the night before every day! The breakfast was amazing, that is a major compliment considering I love a good old Full English! Try the A.C.E juice... Amazing. We didn't get to spend too much time at/in the pool as we had so much to see but at the end of the week we spent a full day to soak up some sun and it is really nice, the staff are helpful and diligent. In hindsight we wished we could have got a ten day holiday to spend a week sightseeing and the last 3 days lying by the pool. Our return journey was as expected; you're going home! Not a good thing! A week later and I'm still unhappy to be back home and just wish i was back in Rome and the Hotel!

Trastevere - Monteverde, Rome, Italy: Across the River Tiber, Trastevere is a well-established boho chic quarter, full of local character. The patchwork of tiny, cobbled streets houses many bars, good restaurants and buzzing nightlife spots. There is also a treasure trove of medieval churches. In its own piazza, the beautiful Santa Maria in Trastevere has shimmering golden mosaics and was probably Romes first Christian basilica, founded in 222 AD.
