“Hotel was good”
We found the hotel good for 4star city hotel. The staff were friendly and the room was clean and well kept. There was lots of choice at the buffet breakfast. We didn't eat any other meals there so can't comment on that. The neighbourhood was ok, the lonely planet guide called it Romes china town. It was a little scruffy but you felt safe and the locals seemed friendly. It was really close to the train station. There is an impressive indoor food market across from the hotel.
“Great Hotel”
Would recommend this hotel. Staff were very helpful the rooms were clean and the breakfast was plenty. The only downside was that the hotel was a bit of a walk to the places of interest but for the price we paid I was very impressed.
“Lovely Hotel but no dining room”
The Golden Tulip Ambra Palace is unfortunate to be set in a slightly seedy area because it really is a lovely hotel and worthy of its star rating. The only drawback we found was that there was no service for evening meals, although the breakfast was excellent and in a very pretty dining room. They are crazy not to use this for the evenings! Lunch is available in a small bar and light meals can also be provided via room service. The room itself was a little small, but perfectly adequate in size for two (my wife is generously sized) and the bathroom was modern, attractive and spotless (shower, no bath). The staff were all courteous and helpful and spoke good English and the hotel really IS a short walk from the main terminus, sight-seeing bus routes and the underground system. Although the surrounding area looks a little 'downtown' we felt perfectly safe walking there even in the small hours of the morning, and there are good restaurants within a five minute walk where you can eat good Italian food at a reasonable price (we paid seventy pounds for two when the Euro was near parity with the pound)plus wine. There was also an Indian restaurant nearby but we didn't try that. All in all, I can recommend this hotel for a city break as it is quiet but all the main tourist areas are accessible by transport with very little effort.
“Ideal for a break in Rome”
The Ambra Palace Hotel is perfect for visiting Roma. It is within walking distance of all the major sights and the hotel staff are more than willing to give directions or order a taxi. This was my second visit to the hotel and would most definitely return.
“Good hotel near transport for visiting sites”
We found this hotel very confortable and clean. Staff were very helpful and pleasant. We chose this hotel because of its close proximity to transport links for visiting sites in Rome. The area around the hotel looks a bit run down and seedy, but we did not have a problem walking to the metro or local restaurants and did not feel unsafe at any time. I would certainly stay at this hotel when I visit Rome again.
“Golden Tulip Ambra Palace”
We stayed at the above hotel for 3 nights on a bed and breakfast basis and thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. There was plenty to choose from for breakfast and we were offered a complimentary drink, we did not eat dinner in the hotel but atleast there was the option to.I nternet access was free as was the printer. All staff spoke fluent english and had excellent customer service skills, they were very conscience we enjoyed our stay but were not overbearing. Our room was perfectly adequate and comfortable. Access to the metro was very close which made visiting all the major sites easy. The hotel wasnt in a tourist area which made it easy to discover what typical everyday life in rome was like. We didnt have any disturbance from noise either. The hotel is in a bit run down area but we did not feel threatened or unsafe at any time and this didnt reflect badly on our stay it really wasnt that bad
“Very good service and warm welcome”
The hotel is situated close to the railway station in a slightly run down area. However the hotel itself is clean, the facilities are good and the breakfast is excellent for a European hotel. The staff were very helpful and welcoming and arranged dining and taxi bookings with no problems. Free internet meant it was easy to keep in touch and to carry out on-line check in. Overall the hotel was good value and very comfortable. Just a shame about the location.
“Would Highly Recommend”
We stayed at this hotel for three nights from 19 Sept 2011. Easy 5 minute walk from Termini Station where we arrived on train from airport. Extremely clean hotel. Large rooms. Very quiet. No disturbed sleep at all, despite being right next to lift. All staff were friendly and helpful. Every choice of top quality food for breakfast (included). We walked EVERYWHERE from this hotel apart from Vatican City but this was only because we had pre-bought time-imposed tickets. We walked to the Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, the Colisseum, Roman Forum, The Pantheon, Piazza Nirvana, etc. - all within easy reach. We got the metro (station two minutes from hotel) to Vatican city and then walked down the Tiber River to the Trastevere District (half hour max. walking). (Do not miss this district). We then walked back from the Trastevere District to the hotel. A top quality hotel in an extremely convenient location.
“Hotel was good, rooms was clean, bar pleasant, breakfast was lovely.”
Rome is Fascinating. However it is also a dirty city. I couldn’t help but notice the graffiti everywhere, rubbish in the streets even dirty needles on tourist routes :-( not nice !
“Ambra Palace - I'll go again”
A good hotel with courteous staff and clean rooms. Ample breakfast choices and a reasonable time-windows for eating. In easy walking distance of good restaurants (including the excellent Agate & Romeo) Feels a bit dodgy late at night though you'll feel better taking a taxi. Close to the Metro (200m) for daytime travel.
