“Our Second Visit Will Be Back For A Third”

This was our second visit to the Astoria Gardens and we will be back again. The hotel is a five minute walk from the Termini Station and Airport Bus Stops. The Staff are friendly and helpful and the rooms are very clean and comfortable and the breakfast is excellent.All the major attractions are an easy bus or metro ride away and there are several excellent restaurants just around the corner. We had a wonderful time and hope to return again soon.

Getting around

Buy a 1,2 or 3 day pass for use on all public transport. They are excellent value and once validated on your first trip means you can get on and off buses etc without having to worry. Buses can be very crowded so keep a close watch on bags etc and keep valubles in inside pockets.

“Clean, Close, and Comfortable”

The room was small but not of the ordinary. Access to train, bus and taxis was convenient and nearby. Access to sights near and far.Staff were courteous and helpful and spoke English. Good hotel for a short stay. Not sure what they do about parking but you don't need a car for in-town sights. Breakfast is the usual fare. Cold, cuts, fruit, pastries, etc. Coffee/cappuccino could be better. All in all a good place for a short stay.

Area recommendations

Via Veneto; pleasant street. Spanish Steps; lots of people. Piazza Navona; night activities. Campo di Fiori; market and nightlife. Pantheon; critical architecture. Capitoline Hill; public space. Colosseo, Palatine Hill, and the Forum; historical sites.

Spring or Fall are the best seasons. There are fewer people and the weather isn't generally as warm.

Fly, train, or bus, depending on where you're coming from.

Easy to get to places by bus, taxi, or subway. Just be wary of pickpockets.

“Convenient and pleasant”

Even though the hotel is near Termini station, the immediate area is pleasant and safe. The hotel staff are helpful and friendly. The facilities are basic but clean.

“What a Jem”

Booked through Expedia not really knowing what to expect, what a suprise for the price. Extremely clean - close to the main train station but a 30 - 40 minute drive by car to the main airport which the hotel set up for us after arriving. The desk staff recomended a restaurant close - block and half by which was excellent. breakfast was adequate wake up call was on time, car to airport was on time. Over all excellent would not hestitate to stay again if we are ever in Roma again.

“Excellent Hotel !!!”

This hotel was great ! The location was very convenient ! 5-7 mins walk from the Termini. You can walk to many attractions ( 45 mins walk)but we took the metro ( 1 euro/ride). We arrived there at 11:30am and the person at the front desk gave us the keys. It was really nice of him. The room was clean and had AC. Bathroom was modern. You also get 1 hr of free Wi-fi. I paid and got wi-fi for 24 hrs. Wi-fi should be included but I guess in Europe they charge extra for Wi-Fi. The staff is very professional and helpful. Elevator was a life saver !

“Highly Recommended”

Stayed for 3 nights as a City Break. Had a room overlooking the garden. Our room, which although not large was very clean, comfortable and quiet with a very well appointed en suite including toiletries. Excellent selection for continental style buffet breakfast which was constantly replenished. The hotel is very convenient for the Terminii where trains, buses, metro and taxis can be found. The staff were all extremely helpful and friendly and I would have no hesitation in recommending the Astoria Garden as tremendous value for money.

When to go

We went at the end of February. The weather was sunny athough at times a cold wind especially on the top of an open top tour bus! Having heard horror stories of long queues and crowds we found it very relaxing. It pays to pre book entrances.

“This is OUR hotel for Rome!”

A small, fine hotel--close to Termini and still very quiet. Nice breakfast with a cappucino machine that we loved and great pastries, too! Desk host went over and above the call of duty to help us with train issues and prevented what could have been a disaster. Our stay was all we could ask for!

“Hotels in Rome”

Helpful staff. You need to sit in the lobby because the rooms are very small and so are the bathrooms. There was plenty of hot water. Breakfasts are OK and breakfast room is fine. Nowhere to sit except on or in the bed. No chairs except in the lobby. Extremely convenient neighborhood to Termini and Busses. Quiet street. Some very good restaurants in the area: especially Ostoria Romana, which opens at 7 and has great handmade pasta. It is only 2 blocks away. A local favorite. Curtains over window and unlit sign make it difficult to find. Restaurant is reason enough to stay at this hotel.

Area recommendations

This one--near the Termini and not run down. Hotel is 2 blocks from the train, but bring a Google map, it is really hard to find unless you know where it is.
