“Do not stay here! Turn back now!”
Horrible hotel. Room was small, dirty and beds were like sleeping on the springs themselves. Food crumbs were on the floor from the previous visitor. Blood drops were on the bed skirt. The site indicated it had a pool. However, the pool had a sign posted saying in was closed indefinitely. Parking lot had broken liquor bottles and a pair of yellow underwear. This hotel reminds me of a place you would rent out by the hour. Hallways smelt of heavy smoke like you were in a casino. The hotel must be in a shady neighborhood. After ten o'clock they lock the hotel down and you can't enter unless you show your id to enter. The continental breakfast was a joke. They had 2 different cereal's and a 2 gallon milk. Bagels with a toaster that doesn't work. Expedia should not even associate their website with this shady motel. Gives them a bad name. Do not stay here.
“Not very impressed at all”
Overall, it was OK but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. First of all, I made a reservation for a non-smoking king-size bed through Expedia. When I got there, all they had for my husband and me was a room with 2 full-size bed. It supposedly was a non-smoking room but my husband could smell smoke on the sheets. Also, we individually took showers and it took forever because the shower had hardly any water flow, with little water trickling out of a few holes. All they provided was soap, no shampoo. Luckily, I brought my own shampoo. In addition, the air conditioner was too loud for my husband to sleep. So he opened the window but the outside was too noisy as well with cars moving around and people being boisterous. Other guests were loud as well during the night and day. It didn't help that they kept opening and closing loud doors. The continental breakfast was alright, although the cleaning lady was quick to boot out people once it hit closing time. Now I know why it was cheap. The website made it look nicer than it actually was.
“not what I would recomend”
The outside area was dirty and in an aorder of dismay. The loby was dirty and dingy. the receptionist was difficult to understand (poor Inglish) and she didn't have the room with the King bed I Had reserved several weeks earlier? the area i had to park was filthy dirty with garbage and cigaret butts every were. The door (entrance) to the motel had no knobs or handles on it. The hall stank of smoke and were also filthy. The room had wallpaper falling off and the bathroom was in very poor condition. We had just driven 13 hours since 4;30 am. and we were verey tired, so we stayed for the last time one night. The continental breakfast was a joke and the two ethjnic groups dominating the room looked like they were going to have a fight. Would not reccomend this place to any body ever.
“will check to see if open at next stay.”
quiet rooms, nothing special about room. met our needs for a place to stay and sleep.
“Read the reviews.”
Avoid this hotel at all costs. An absolute dump. More of an extended stay rental for low income folks. Very dissapointing as the Sweden House was a decent place many years ago.
“Probably wont be stayin there again”
Not as nice as had appeared in pictures. Had a weird aroma to it, not one of freshness or cleaness. Went mainly because they said they had a breakfast buffet which turned out to be just a crappy version of a do it yourself continental breakfast. For the price i paid i could of got a much nicer hotel somewhere else.
“Not Impressed”
The furniture in the room was stained and very dirty. I didn't even want to sit on it. The comforter or blanket on my bed smelled like body odor. It was so tacky it had names of other motels on the soap, cups, and note pads. I was very disappointed in the breakfast buffet. They didn't have much to offer and the second day the orange juice was watered down. I would never return to stay at Sweden House Lodge.
“Two Star Hotel”
I have stayed at the Sweden House Lodge several times because it is within close proximity of someone I visit regularly. I agree with other reviewers who say it needs a complete renovation. The upstairs ice machine hasn't worked in years, the breakfast is scanty, and the hotel looks rundown. The rugs are old and worn and should be replaced. But it is a 2-star hotel, and the price is cheap, and the staff has beeen responsive to my requests. I have learned to look at the room before accepting it, and I check the bed, the TV, the bathroom, and if I am unsatisfied, I ask for another room. I always ask for extra towels. I have run into small problems in the past such as one time the bathtub plug did not work and the TV remote did not have a number pad. The last time I was there, I stayed 4 nights, and 3 times I had trouble with my keycard, and they only cleaned the room one day. I am not there to enjoy a 5-star hotel, I only need a place to sleep at night. I would only recommend this hotel, if you are staying in that vicinity of Rockford, and you are willing to forfeit quality for a cheap price. I always bring my own hair dryer.
“good for the price”
Downside was noisy hallways as people returned from the gameroom late at night. Economical alternative to Chicago.
“Great Value”
Staff very resopnsive with early check in. Need key for public restroom. Bed comfortable.
