“Good Stay”

The Courtyard by Marriott in Roanoke was a nice place to stay. I attended an art conference at the Sheraton and stayed at the Courtyard. I walked over and back each day. I had food from the grill downstairs. It was convenient and the employees I encountered were all very pleasant. I would recommend it to others.

“Surprisingly Beautiful”

Very nice hotel! It had a beautiful room and a very friendly and helpful staff. We will definitely stay there again if we stay in Roanoke.

“Overall Good Experience”

This hotel is either brand new or very recently renovated. Beautiful new lobby, nice breakfast area that transforms into a bar area at night. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Housekeeping was the problem. After our room was cleaned the first day, we came back to only one (wet) towel. Our coffee maker was cleaned, but new coffee not replaced. These may be small issues, but didn't leave a good impression. Near the airport, near Roanoke, a short drive to Roanoke College. Overall a good experience....I'd go back.

Area recommendations

This is a good area if you are visiting Roanoke, unless you prefer to stay right in town. If vising Roanoke College, I'd stay in Salem.

“Disappointment”

I was very disappointed in my room. I felt the cleanliness of the room was not up to my perception of the Marriott brand. There was no iron in my room. When I went down to the front desk to request a iron to press a shirt for in the morning the gentleman could not find one. He suggested I contact a house cleaning person on my floor in the morning. After I checked out of the hotel and left in my car I thought I had wish I had stayed in another near by hotel.

“Decent clean safe hotel in Roanoke”

Traveling alone, was a bit leery about checking in to an unknown hotel around an airport late at night. I was pleasantly surprised that this hotel was clean, safe and friendly. Recently remodeled, the bed and sheets were comfy. They were nice and came to pick me up at the airport. Their driver had already left, so another employee drove over to get me. Nice caring touch.

“Nice room but nasty bathroom.”

The room was clean, updated and comfortable. The bathroom was not. The tub/shower tile and grout had mildew and were gross. I was surprised to see this at a Marriott. Also, the security lock fell off the door and wasn't replaced until the next morning. When it was replaced, it was not put on straight. Still worked, but didn't look good. It's the small details that make a bad impression.

Area recommendations

Make the drive to Charlottesville. Totally worth the drive and the time you spend there.

“Nice business travel accomodatins.”

Hotel was clean and pleasant. Front desk staff was very professional. I was disappointed that one morning my breakfast order was forgotten and I had to go back and ask for it, waited for over 15 minutes at a table in dining area. I also noticed that housekeeping did not touch up my room. Check out was seamless and quick.
