“Loved the resort, surroundings, food, location!”
Great food at Seafood, Oriental and Grill à la carte restaurants! Xplor park was great! Very nice lobby for relaxing! I recommend Xcaret Paradise as a drink. Great dancers as entertainers at the shows (loved the rock songs night)! Very friendly staff!
“Beautiful Location”
This is our 2nd time at this beautiful hotel and we had a great time once again. We stayed 10 days from 11/29-12/8 and the weather was great pretty much the whole time (some party cloudy days, 1 rainy early in the day). We spent pretty much the entire time at the beach as the water was warmer than in the pools (although we did spend some refreshing time in the great pools). The food seemed better this time than last and was pretty good. We've spoken to many on the trip who had been to other resorts and what they said was what you give up on beach (as this is a nice relaxing inlet) you make up for in jungle. This is honestly just an extremely pretty and lush resort and it makes for amazing pics and good times. There are actual mayan ruins on site (really cool). Also they had some new things like a Mayan Show in the lobby almost every night, and as I said the food was improved. We were happy to see our favorite beach side waitress still there delivering us yummy drinks. We really love it there, it's family friendly, but there weren't that many kids this time around, although we can't wait to take ours someday. It's just beautiful and except for some ocassionally annoying time share sales people, and our elevator breaking down, it was a great trip. It's absolutely worthy of a good vacation so I truly truly suggest you go. Be sure to tip, they appreciate it, and everyone's REALLY nice. ;)
“Excelent except the small beach”
We were there for a group function so was not our choice of places. Every thing was great except the small beach. We are beach people so missed that part. Staff, room, service, food etc were all good. Probably is a great family place as the man made beach is great for kids learning to swim and snorkle. There is many fish in it.
“Some great things but some not so great things too”
Really a beautiful resort with friendly staff and incredible wildlife. Great snorkeling place as well. I have been scuba diving and snorkeling throughout the Caribbean and have never seen such diversity and abundance so close to shore. The grounds around the hotel have a lot of different wildlife too and it was really fun just to walk around and see everything. The downside is the beach is man made so if you're looking to play around in the waves or take long walks by the ocean you will be out of luck. The food was also pretty mediocre. If you are any kind of foodie you will be disappointed with the buffets and especially the a la carte restaurants. Like I the title of the review says, there are some great things about this resort but there are some concerns as well. We had a great time but would probably look some place else if we went back to the area.
“First experience to Mexico!”
First time in Mexico and the resort was very beautiful! The beauty of the hotel and it's beautiful trails and the nature of Mexico all at this resort .. the food was hood the beach was fun! We stayed in the front lobby and it was beautiful. I will go back again.
“first time in mexico”
It was beautiful, the clear water and white beach. Bring your own snorkeling equipment. We were on vacation but it became aggravating with all the pressure trying to sell us "planned vacations." They attacked you in the main lobby and then they are in every entrance of every building, Since we have nothing to compare this resort to, it was nice but very big, alot of walking even though they do have a trolley system. Be prepared to pay for internet by minute or by day. Calling card machines were out of order. Big money to make a call from the room. Men must were sleeved shirts and long pants with no sandals to the ala carte restaurants and sleeved shirts to the main buffet located by the main lobby. The drinks and guacamole were great!
“I enjoyed the hotel”
we were three couples, enjoyed the nice weather, the beautiful hotel, and all the time we spent our vacations in the hotel.
“Loved it, would go again.”
Staff friendly, grounds large but incredible. Food is tolerable and drinks never stop. Also, lots of Europeans, Canadians and South Americans which is really cool to meet and befriend non-Americans.
“On the decline”
This is the 3rd time we have visited the Xcaret. And may be the last. In my opinion, they are focusing so much on the club members part of the resort, that the regular guests have fallen by the wayside. The staff used to be gracious and a bit more experienced and now is a bit more youthful and less attentive. Still a great value for the money, and a ton of things to do right on the property, but after our 3rd time, we will look at other options next time.
“What a Great Vacation!!”
Stayed at the Occidental Grand Xcaret from October 15-22. Other than the fact that its rainy season in Mexico our stay at this hotel was wonderful. All the staff are extremely friendly and do their best to assist you in anyway you can. Note for convenience though make sure you book your reservations for the restaurants ahead of time as they will not allow you in as a walk-in. The hotel room was very clean and comfortable, love the shower stall. Food in the restaurants was good but the Sonora Grill steakhouse was pretty disappointing. Would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyonw going in this area. If your planning on doing any activities like Xplor, Xcaret or snorkeling at Maroma Beach this hotel is a great location!
