“Meh....”

This is one of the least expensive hotels in Playa Del Carmen. It's quite old and worn, but the location is great, close to Avienda 5 and near the beach. It was nothing great, but the price was right. If you're looking for cheap and don't care about amenities, this place is great, but I would suggest spending just a little more and getting something nicer. We've also stayed at the Aventura Mexicana. It cost slightly more, but not much more and was a much nicer hotel.

Area recommendations
I would recommend anything close to Avienda 5. There are a lot of hotels, awesome restaurants within walking distance and the beach is great.
Getting there
Pay the extra $20 or so for private transportation from the airport in Cancun. It's quicker, nicer and worth every penny.
Getting around
No problemo getting around Playa Del Carmen. Just walk. If you need to go elsewhere, there are taxis on every street corner anxious to provide transportation.
Dining
La Cueva Del Chango is a hidden gem just a block or so east from the north end of 5th Avenue. Unique atmosphere, outstanding food and great prices. We have dined there 3 times during two visits and can't wait to go again.

“Loved the town, disliked the hotel where I stayed.”

“Tolles Preis-Leistungsverhältnis, sehr freundlich und persönlich, mittendrin und doch relativ ruhig”

Alle sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit! Immer alles super sauber und sehr nett hergerichtet! Die Lage ist super! Alles binnen 5 Minuten zu Fuß erreichbar und diverse günstige Essmöglichkeiten vor der Tür (in der 10.Avenida). Zum Hotel gehört auch der kostenlose Shuttle vom Partnerhotel Tukan zum Strandclub (calle 28), dort gratis Liegen und Sonnenschirme (und Toiletten). Es gibt unendlich viele Hotels mittlerweile vor Ort, aber das Nina ist sehr günstig und top! Alles was geboten wird ist sehr gut und die Dinge die nicht inbegriffen sind wie das Essen haben wir gerne individuell vor Ort genutzt um flexibler zu sein, es wäre aber auch beim Partner Tukan buchbar.

Area recommendations
Ruinen: Lieber Chichen Itza als Tulum oder Coba ansehen. Frühstücken am günstigsten und ursprünglichsten in der Avenida 10 zwischen calle 6 und calle 14. Super cocktails mit ordentlich Wums und nette Besitzer im La Kalaka (calle 4 Avenida 10 y 15 oder 15 y 20...ordentlich Wums ;) ). Seabob fahren bei der Tauchschule Tank Ha mit Javier! Wer mehr Zeit hat: Schnorcheln mit Walhaien in Holbox!
