“Can't wait to go back”
Excellant stay and wonderful staff. However, here are some suggestions for improvement...no smoking within any building(lobbies, outside doors of restaurants), shuttle pickup outside lobbies and on the shuttle and on the balconies of their rooms. The smoking is a health issue for non smokers(second hand smoke) and children.
“Great vacation”
This was our first trip to Cancun and the GBP. The resort exceeded our expectations and the food being an all-inclusive was rather good. We did get a little tired of the buffet towards the end of our stay and were thankful for the ala carte restaurants. The only negatives dealt with the resort's maintenance/service staff. When we checked in at 4:30p we found the maid still cleaning the room. One other day during our stay it approached 5pm before the maid finally got to our room. I assume they end work at 5pm because we got a very sloppy job done. The key card that operated the master switch controlling the electrical in the room did not operate. It took several calls to the front desk for them to respond and send someone out. We had contacted a maintenance person near the room he came into view it and said he would send someone out but never did. When we finally had enough after 2 hours and demanded another room they then told us the problem was solved. Coffee maker in room was not operational. A note was left for the maid and they even acknowledged it but never did anything about it. I took additional complaining before it was addressed. Outside of the maintenance/cleaning issues everything else was great. There was plenty to do, the resort exceeded our expectations and we would definately return.
“Impressed and would go back”
This was our second trip to Gran Bahia Principe. For the $$$$ it is worth it. For the most part, wait staff are nice. Some, restaurant staff however..leave a lot to be desired. Not sure if they were just understaffed.... Way too many cigarette smokers this trip!.. Must've been a smokers convention. I would suggest designated smoking areas... Beach(s) are very, very nice!
“Beautiful Place”
Beautiful views, very clean and well kept grounds. Room had a musty smell, but it was clean. All staff greeted us with a smile and were quick and efficient with answering questions. Our room fridge wasn't working when we got there, so I told the front desk and it was fixed by the time we got back to our room. Excellent customer service. Never walked by a staff without them saying "hola!" Wide variety of food at the buffet, but it was often cold by the time you sit down to eat. Quick drink service. Sit down restaurants were very good. Overall, amazing place. It's a huge place, but very quiet and not crowded at all.
“Excellent Relaxation Spot”
We really enjoyed our stay; the resort complex (all 3 parts) is easy to navigate. The Akumal beach is by far the best. We found a perfect spot at the end, not too busy, water very nice and bar close by. Service was good except for a blip during check-out. The food was mediocre but lots of selection, and the wait staff were very friendly. It would be helpful if there were more electrical outlets in the rooms, and also if all the room fridge and porch/balcony lights worked.
“Nice vacation!”
The Club Hacienda villa we stayed in at GB Principe Tulum was worth the extra we paid - that part of the resort had its own small lobby, bar, activities director, etc. saved us a lot of time & trips up to the front lobby. Short walk to beach & pool too. We enjoyed the exclusive use of a pool and bar for Club Hacienda guests only and our end of the resort was quieter and more relaxing than up by the main pool and other rooms. We found speaking French came in handy as much as speaking Spanish because there were many French speaking guests and much of the staff spoke French & Spanish as well as English. Main buffet was close to Club Hacienda villas as well as a smaller restaurant, Tequila, by the beach - for a quick breakfast or lunch. And because we were Club Hacienda, we were treated to one extra ala carte night in any restaurant on three properties. Frutos del Mar at Akumal was great if you like seafood. The wait staff was all very friendly & though gratuity is supposed to be inclusive, its nice to help them with a tip here and there for good service. With use of all three resorts - Tulum, Akumal & Coba - there was always something new to see & fun to do. While there, be sure to check out Achtun Chen - just across highway (take taxi). National Geographic top 10 dry cave tours, canopy (like zip lining) & swimming in Cenote - personal attention, informed guides & no crowds - loved the spider monkeys! & definitely visit Xel-ha. Fabulous trip!
“Great Resort for the price”
We loved our stay at the Tulum section of the hotel. We stayed near the smaller secluded pool and loved it. The grounds were in great shape the room was just as to be expected from an all inclusive in Mexico and the food was actually better than most resorts that we've been to. Overall I would say that the Bahia was a great value.
“Would go back again”
Just spent a week at the Tulum section of the Bahia Principe. We got a great price on it a few months ago and had never been there before. We were very pleased with our stay. Very well maintained grounds, it's nice how they left plenty of the native vegitation around the resort. You will see lots of animals wandering the grounds. We were happy with our room, everything worked fine, even had a extra mattress pad on the bed it allready, no hard bed!. Service was good throughout the complex. Huge complex, they have trolleys that you can ride between sections of resort. You can drink or eat in Akumal or Coda sections also, had about a dozen ala-carte restuarants to chose from, make sure you book the right away to get into the ones you want to try, the let you pick 3 for a week stay. The buffet at the Tulum was OK, lots to choose from, never was hungry. We dove some local dives with the resort dive shop scubaquatic and were pleased with them, would dive with them again. If you like to snorkel, the reef directly infront of the resort is protected and bouyed off, walk down the beach north from the tulum property, and enter where the boats are tied off, there is a nice reef out there, but a pretty good swim out to it. If your really adventureous go to the Akumal section and walk of the grounds south there is a beautful secluded bay around the corner. Overall very happy with the place, thought we got a great value for the price we paid.
“THEY WERE SO ACCOMMODATING”
I FOUND THE BED QUITE HARD FIRST NIGHT SO MADE MENTION TO STAFF AND WITH IN HOURS HAD A VERY COMFORTABLE TOPPER PUT ON. WE FOUND THE BUFFET AT COBA BETTER IN THE EVENING AND THE TULUM FOR BREAKFAST THE BEST. BUTTER SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUE AT ALL BUT THE BREAD IS TO DIE FOR AS WAS THE HOT CREPES FOR DESERTS. THE STAFF COULD NOT BE MORE FRIENDLY OR HELPFUL HAD A GREAT TIME WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS RESORT.... THIS IS OUR 4TH TIME TO THE RIVERA MAYA WILL BE BACK TO THE GRAN BAHIA PRINCIPE FOR SURE!!!
“2011 MEXICO GOLF HOLIDAY”
WE BOOKED FOR A JUNIOR SUITE AND I THINK THEY JUST GAVE US A REGULAR ROOM. THE FOOD WAS ABUNDANT BUT UNREMARKABLE. THEY NEED TO LEARN TO SEASON THINGS. WE HAD TROUBLE WITH THE STOPPER IN OUR BATHROOM SINK, (THE WATER LEAKED PAST AND DRAINED THE SINK FASTER THAN YOU COULD WASH. THERE SOLUTION WAS TO PLUG THE SINK SO IT TOOK FOREVER TO DRAIN. THE PRICES THEY WANT TO CHARGE FOR LAUNDRY SHOULD BE CRIMINAL. THE RESORT IS NICE ENOUGH. THE GOLF COURSE WAS SPECTACULAR AND THE STAFF THEIR WERE FANTASTIC AS WELL AS THE GOLF SHUTTLE DRIVER. THE GOLF MADE THE TRIP.
