“Loved it!”

First visit to Rio. Hotel is about 30 minutes from the airport by taxi (fixed fare notified in advance) and is located a few hundred yards from Copacabana beach surrounded by local cafe bars and listed restaurants within a few minutes walk. Reception staff multilingual and ALL staff extremely helpful. Our early morning arrival had our room immediately ready. A balcony room on the 14th floor, accessible by very efficient lifts with view of the beach (just) and morning sun. Room of excellent proportion with larger than king size bed, colour TV with satellite channels (BBC world & US news channels, some English films with Portuguese subtitles) and clock radio. En-suite with bidet and wet-floor walk-in shower. Rooms serviced to a very high standard daily. Free in room Wi-fi and fridge a bonus. Breakfast with choice of Continental and hot options available until mid-morning included in our package. Roof terrace with small pool and bar an oasis with sun until late afternoon. Only small issue of noisy air-conditioning but effective and probably not that much different than experienced elsewhere. Would we go again - most definite yes. Should you go - most definitely.

“Underated - This hotel is excellent”

I read some so-so reviews before going here for a holiday. It has clean rooms - not large, but fine. The staff are all really friendly and the breakfast is great. It is one block back from Copacobana - handy for beach. Importantly you are on Rua Sequeira Campos so walk away form the beach by two block and you are able to get on Rio's excellent metro line. This hotel is handy for all of Rio. We used the roof pool at the sister hotel, the Windsor Exelcior (3 blocks north up Copacobana), as it is bigger and better than the one here - just walk in and say you are using that because the sauna etc isn't working at the Windsor `palace if asked (you wont be if you walk straight in to the lift). Front desk at the Windsor Palace will give you beech towels. Recommend d two "kilo" restaurants - just weigh and pay. a) The Sequeira Grill , just at the end of street when Domingos Ferrara meets Rua Sequeira Campos. Dont go to teh Pizza place (they are sh its!). b) jhe Bella Blu up twowrds the metro station (up rua sequeira campos). Lots of bars near by. Football= live ESPN Premiership - on at the "Informal" bar go out left up rua sequiera campos to next street, turn right after park, and keep going (its on the left) about 2.5 blocks) We will come again!

great hotel with great staff and would definitely stay there again, the location was great, very close to copacabana beach and close to supermarkets and shops.

Excellent breakfast, helpful staff who can change English money. V near beach, lovely roof pool. Only downside is the hotel is a little dated, and our room was small as we had 3 of us in it.

“Beware unwanterd visitors”

On arriving at the Windsor Palace Hotel in Rio my first thoughts were wow this looks lovely and so central to the town centre. The room was on the 15th floor overlooking some taller buildings on the opposite side. This was not a problem to us. But what was a problem was that the patio doors from our bedroom to the balcony would not close properly again we thought we will let the management know the next morning after having a long flight we wanted to get some sleep. We where in bed when My husband suddenly jumped up after hearing someone opening our patio doors on investigating he came face to face with a man who then jumped back over the wall leading to the next hotel room. My husband shouted at him what was he doing in our room We let the manager know and asked for the police he refused to do this. We where then offered another room directly above the room we where originally in again this balcony didnt shut properly. My husband was able to point out the guy to the manager who entered our room when he came through reception a short while later. We went to the police ourselves who then contacted The manager who have requested that they get the hotel security sorted, We where then offered a room at the Windsor Atlantica wow what a difference in hotels and staff I would recommend a stay there without a doubt. The difference in the two hotels is so obvious and its true you only get what you pay for> Do not stay in the Windsor Palace unless your door close properly
