“Great base location for a short visit”

We were only there for 2 nights at the beginning of our South America tour. It's definitely more of a business hotel, but the staff was extremely helpful with any questions. There is a Metro Station right around the corner, plenty of restaurants in the neighborhood and the central location makes it easy to get to the beaches or center.

the hotel is very old. couldn't imagine that it is 3 star. the aircondition is super noisy. the location is ok.

“Affordable hotel in convenient location”

The Windsor Florida hotel had attractive public spaces, plain but clean and comfortable rooms, a splendid breakfast buffet, and responsive staff. Though it is some distance from Copacabana and Ipanema beaches, it is within a half of a block of the main metro line, which ends a couple of blocks from Ipamena Beach. On the edge of the Flamengo district, the hotel is closer than the main beaches to a number of other city sites and a walkable distance from Flamengo Park and nice beach area.

The Windsor Florida is a good value hotel with competitive rates, especially attractive when other hotels in the city put there rates up 4 fold at Carnaval time. It's location is not as sexy as the sister hotels on Cococabana beach. it's in an older part of town (Flamengo) with good access to reasonably priced restaurants and near Catete metro station. We found it clean and efficient. It's also pretty central to travel to Sugar Loaf and Corcavado.

This is a business-focused hotel close to downtown but still very convenient to the maor tourist spots in Rio. It's a 3 minute walk to the coastal boulevard (crossing it you get to Flamengo Beach). The restaurant's breakfast buffet is varied and has good quality food. I heard from a local friend that the "feijoada" they serve on Friday afternoons is very fresh, tasty and agood value (closes at 4pm so I just missed it). I also stayed at the Windsor Palace in the heart of Copacabana, 1 short block from the coastal highway -- that hotel was also a good experience.

“Convenient to the Metro”

Our stay was comfortable. The room was adequate in size and comfort. The bathroom was small . The staff was very helpful and very cordial. The stay included breakfast. The breakfast buffet offered a variety of food. There were quite a few families staying at the hotel so it appears to be kid friendly. As we were checking out, a youth conference was arriving so I'd probably inquire if any large groups were staying at the same time. They were quite noisy. The hotel is very convenient to the Metro. The Catete Station is literally around the corner.There was shopping and restaurants all within a very short walk.

“Fantastic Hotel”

I loved this hotel. The staff was wonderful and the food excellent. Clean, considerate, comfortable. The only small thing is it's a cab ride away from the beaches of Rio, but for the price difference, it's worth it. Would recommend this hotel highly.

“Enjoyed the Windsor Florida”

Stayed a total of 6 nights at the Windsor Florida (October 2009) and had a very good stay. I went to Rio for the usual (beaches, shopping, caipirinhas etc) and whilst this hotel is not near the famous beaches it is well positioned to get to those areas fairly quickly by taxi or via the subway. Subway is a 2 minute walk from the hotel and is very clean and felt very safe, cost RS2.20 per journey. A less famous beach (Flamengo) is within 5 minutes walking distance. This hotel has a great breakfast included in your room rate and also has a lunch and dinner buffet which I used several times even though it was bit more expensive than going out nearby. Lots of choices at all of the buffets. The hotel is in a more business orientated area of the City which you may notice when you see others in suits at breakfast. There are nearby historical interests and the main street Rua do Catete has shops, restaurants, places to get the all important manicure/pedicure and bikini wax if you are feeling particularly brave. I travel to Brazil at least once a year and will certainly return to this hotel.
