“Back in the 70's”
Hotel well situated, clean, but overpriced, it looks like you are back in the 70's
“lovely but has problems”
when we booked this hotel through expedia it stated in the description that they had 'standard rooms with partial sea views' - trust me their standard rooms do not have any sea views or indeed the room we were offered 605 has no views at all - it was a box room with another building only feet away from our window - therefore making it a black out window - we were moved to another room with a partial sea view but were told this was an 'upgrade' - so just be warned about this. The downstairs staff were lovely - the upstairs staff (by the pool area) were very 'laid back'. We ordered a meal which they forgot to place the order - so it arrived 40 mins later - and then only one of the two meals came...very sloppy...
“Great location”
Good hotel, excelent location. Rooms comfortable (get one with view of Copacabana).
“We Loved This Hotel!”
We would stay there again if we returned to Rio De Janiero. The free breakfasts (through Expedia) were outstanding. One evening we ate at the hotel. They had a very delicious buffet meal. The beds were comfortable. Everything was always clean. Free chocolate at night was a nice surprise. I used the exercise room one evening. It was fine. I never tried the pool, steam room or sauna, however. They allowed us to use their chairs and umbrellas for the beach at no charge. The staff was always friendly and helpful. They helped us get a tour guide. The beach just across the street was amazing! Warm water and soft sand! It was fun to play in the waves. Perfect vacation!!
“Good Experience at Windsor Excelsior”
Hotel was clean, breakfast included was very good with nice selection. Workout room small, but adequate. Great location on Copacabana Beach just downt the street from the Copacabana Palace. Internet connection seemed pretty expensive, so didn't use. Staff helpful. Overall, very good experience.
“Extraordinary Location!!!...”
...The hotel is old but well kept. The rooms are small and quite "old fashioned", but if you've booked Ocean View you've have a REAL plus...Copacabana Beach's view is great!!! As usual ,brazilian's buffet breakfast is impressive!! Te location is really great, very close to the beach, many restaurants around and a very "secure" neighbourhood. Hotel prices are NOT cheap...but Brazil is VERY expensive for quite everybody!!!
“Very nice hotel in Copacabana”
Check-in was a breeze. The room was perfect. The location is incredibly convenient. I would recommend to make sure you book a room with Ocean view, as the view is spectacular. The staff is nice and will recommend restaurants, activities and so on... The breakfast buffet is one of the best we have ever had for this type of hotel. Overall, a super nice hotel with a reasonable price for Rio. I recommend this hotel to anyone.
“Would definitely stay at the Windsor Excelsior again!”
Nice hotel in a great area - right across from Copacabana beach. Close to cafes/restaurants - but also used Front desk for dinner recomendations. Taxi's very convenient and relatively close to all main attractions. Felt safe going out in the evening. This hotel has a also great breakfast buffet. I have stayed a at couple of places in Ipanema - but when I go back to Rio I would definitely stay here again.
“Our best stay in Rio”
Very nice staff, very helpful without making feel like you have to tip constantly. Great beach service. Pricey and a small room, but then it is Rio.
“Vacationing Midwesterners”
Hotel is a very pleasant, though a bit darkly decorated place. Not top-of-the-line, but good next tier. The extra few dollars for an ocean view room were worth it--just across the road from Copacabana beach; only about 5 of perhaps 20 rooms per floor have it; others are over a street or air shaft. People were most pleasant and helpful; good English at the desk, for restaurant and bell staff it depended on whom you met but all got the job done with courtesy.
