“Never come back”
The high price paid and poor quality of service, did not correspond to a Sheraton hotel
“Nice but in the middle of slums”
Food and drinks VERY expensive
“Maybe I'm not ready for Rio...”
The hotel was nice and was comfortable, maybe I'm being critical... BUT the roach that ran out of the bathtub along with the Brown hot water (it did eventually clear up) freaked me out a bit. Had at least 1 power outage during the day that I was there (I think that this attributed to the Brown water). the staff was very nice and was apologetic for the water (I didn't mention the Roach). Food was very good.
“It Was Perfect !!!”
Stay at Sheraton Rio!!!…Amazing beach views from almost all rooms. Waves of Turquorse green water pound massive rocks next to the private white sand beach. Incredible Buffet Where Crème Brule was the worst you could do. Amazing beach view from almost all rooms. Nice and cold and clean. Easy access daily internet allow you to communicate with home...cell phone don’t like the mountains. Currency exchange onsite…Be sure to do it between 9am and 6pm or you’re out of luck…They don’t like American dollars in RIO!!! Make sure you notify your bank as soon as your credit cards post international charges or they are blocked immediately. Couples massage on the beach is a must. Trip to Sugar Loaf or Christ is a must… the views are extraordinary…don’t think you’re supposed to feed the monkeys. Winter in RIO is perfect...105 at home 80 in RIO… Not a place to shop really… it’s like shopping at home in the mall. Taxi rides are actually dangerous and fun adventures. Wear very comfortable shoes… sidewalks are mosaic unevenly gorgeous artistic tile. You can bribe the doorman at one of the super crowded clubs and get in quickly. So much to tell…just go and relax… you’ll love it.
“Sheraton Rio”
Arrived late Sunday morning & was told the room would not be ready as the hotel was full over the weekend. Isabel at the desk offered (and we used) a hospitality room to change out of travel clothes, use the toilet, etc. Went to the poolside restaurant for a drink & lunch. Room was ready at 2:00pm and it was clean & ready for use. Had dinner at the buffet restaurant between the pools. Good selection of fresh fruit, vegetables, salads at the buffet, with a nice selection of meat from the grill. Breakfast buffet at the restaurant on the 5th floor is pricey and the scrambled eggs were just fair. Again there was a nice selection of fresh fruit.
“Nice location but aged hotel”
The location is great as it is set on a small beach (next beach after the Leblon side of the Leblon-Ipanema). All rooms have a great view and the staff is very nice. However, the hotel is in dire need of a serious update. At least it is clean and anyways why would you stay in your room when in Rio?
“DO NOT STAY HERE!”
Terrible!
“Lovely hotel”
Beautiful hotel just beyond Leblon beach. Fantastic facilities and staff, a very luxurious environment, only slight disappointment was a cockroach in the shower!
“better than many reviews”
Before going we read some of the more negative reviews as a precaution. In fact the hotel was excellent. Not cheap, but we had no problems at all. Room service and all facilities were excellent and the location not at all bad- 800 yard walk into leblon area. We'd go back anytime.
“Very good hotel, I will go back”
Overall it was a very good stay. The hotel is very nice and the room was great. The pools and hot tub area was very good as well. Also good was the easy access to the beach and althought it is not a private beach it was secluded enough where there werent so many people like there are on copacabana and ipanema beaches. The workers there were friendly was well. The only bad things about the hotel were i felt they charged too much for the food and beverages even though it was convenient to eat there at the hotel. The other bad thing that happened was I was charged way way too much for collect calls to my credit card. The location there said they couldnt help me but the customer service for Sheraton was great and they refunded me the money. I will stay there again but next time i am not touching the phone. I recommend u stay there but dont touch the phone either
