“pleasant hotel in Leblon on the beach”
Great location right on the beautiful beach. Very helpful and friendly staff. Very good breakfast. Nice, small roof terrace. Building needs some modernisation although appears to have been newly decorated. Overall a pleasant stay.
“Great location”
Right on the beach and in a lovely leafy neighborhod - great choice for your visit. Don't plan to arrive early and get your room. The hotel is almost always sold out. The staff was friendly and very helpful. They culd attend to guests in English or Portuguese and helped with arrangements both within the hotel and throughout the city.
“Best Hotel Leblon”
Nice, very nice.
“Fantastic location!”
The location and view are absolutely fantastic!
“stay away”
We had a fabulous trip to Rio but that was due to the wonderful friends we were with. The hotel was definitely the worst part of this vacation. We paid for a deluxe room. I guess their version of a deluxe room is different from North America. Our room was full of Mold. Yes, seriously MOLD. The AC unit was built into the wall but should have been a window unit because whenever you turned it on you could hear the water dripping into the walls. We woke every morning with sore throats and we contribute it to the mold. There was mold all up one entire wall/ covering the back of the blackout blinds/ the window trip and the bathroom was covered. The cleaner never showed up for the first few days until we had to call down after 4pm. The staff was lovely but hardly makes up for the bad experience with the room when you are paying these prices. Overall - great vacation DESPITE the hotel, don't stay here but the area is highly recommended.
“Great hotel at Leblon in Rio.”
This was our first trip to Brazil and we had many concerns. This hotel far exceeded our hopes. The location on the beach in Leblon was perfect with access to dining, safe walking and shopping, and easy access to other beaches. The staff was more friendly and helpful than most in the States. The breakfasts were so complete that we often did not need lunch, This has to be one of the best sites in which to stay in Rio.
“Love this hotel!”
The hotel staff were great, especially the amazing bartenders and waiters who went above and beyond to help us, even giving us basic Portugese lessons! The view from the roof is spectacular and the cocktails are delicious.. The breakfast buffet was really good too. The hotel itself is a little dated but that seems to be the case with most Rio hotels, it was definitely clean and more than comfortable. The location is the best, Leblon is a safe place to stay with the best restaurants and bars in Rio. The beach chairs out the front of the hotel are great. Only thing to be aware of is the hotel's car service, it is much more expensive than a taxi BUT they will bargain with you, so try for 25-30% less than they first quote. The service from these drivers was also great so it is worth paying a little more, just negotiate a good price before you go anywhere.
“It's a run-down hotel”
This is the first time I travel to Rio on vacation, rather than business. From the very entrance one can figure out how poor the hotel accommodations must be. Where else can you see a poor suburb basement-style bar with white painted vertical slabs of wood? The room was hands down the worst hotel or motel I have seen in my life (in ANY price range). In addition to the room being extremely tired and having a cracked ceiling, the furniture is really difficult to describe in terms of low quality and poor aging. If you are seeking dead bugs (at least I hope that's what it was, rather than rodent excrement) you can find a plentiful collection in between the windows on the 22nd floor. The bathroom: 3 long vertical cracks in the sheetrock facing the "walls" around the tub, as the sheets never fully touch, spaced apart wood stick ceiling through which one can see the electrical wires and pipes, and finally the electric wires of the refrigerator, whose full back could be admired from under the sink! You can imagine the speed at which we were forced to take showers because we were really concerned of electrocution. Breakfast: good fruit, coffee and pastry; poor juices, eggs, cold cuts and cheese. Dinner - we didn't dare. They have some sort of wood painted porch reminiscent of some poor mountain resort from the 50s. If I need to pay top dollar, I will pay it in a decent place.
“Great Stay in Rio”
Couldnt have asked for a better stay. Great breakfast and peaceful location. Bus and metro make for easy transport. The roof pool and bar were amazing and the view priceless. Would certainly stay here again.
“Excellent hotel, got a good rate and will try to come bak”
Very nice hotel, extremely friendly staff, terrific views. The pool area could be improved, the bar on the 26th floor should be opened, and the shower flooded a little bit, but in overall, a great place to stay. the location is perfect.
