This place is about location. It is right on the beach. The hotel itself is ok though a bit soulless. I loved the thick duvets and the bed was comfortable. The wifi did not function for me at least half of the time. The breakfast was very generous.

Excellent location! Breakfast is also very good. You’ll find everything you need at a walking distance. But it’s a very busy hotel.

The property is well located on Copacabana beach. The aircon works well., the rooftop pool and bar were the highlight. On the downside the rooms feel highly- trafficked, and could do with some sprucing up, bathroom amenities were negligible. It does offer value for money during normal times. Its Carnaval pricing is as rapacious as anywhere else in Rio ( which us to be expected). All that said, I would stay there again.

This is a reasonable price for a hotel right on Copacabana Beach. It offers a variety of rooms including oceanview and mountain view at a higher rate. (My room offered a wall of curtains with a 12'' high frosted window close to the ceiling. Functionally unnecessary but added a softness. I wasn't there enough to care.) room was exceptionally clean. They offer an amazing breakfast buffet for any diet. Delicious quiche. Wonderful breads. No hot black tea. Doormen were always good at securing cabs (who sometimes took us on a longer route). Lovely rooftop view of Christo as well as pools and bar. Quiet at night. Next door to Maxim's restaurant with excellent food and the amazing national lime drink. We ate several meals here and tried both seafood and beef and it was all outstanding. I would stay here again and recommend it to others.

Some of the staff members were very kind while others seemed annoyed to have guess who didnt speak the Language. The area was extremely unsafe filled with homeless people and the smell was terrible. We almost got robbed at the beach and were told we had to leave as we were being targettted to be robbed by many at the beach. Will not come back or recommend.

Excellent staff. Great breakfast buffet.
Very good hotel in the middle of Copacabana Beach. Staff is very accommodating and friendly. The daily buffet breakfast offers plenty of variety and lots of fresh fruit and homemade pastries. Would definitely stay there again.

November 2023: Do yourself a favor and avoid staying at the Astoria Palace by all means. The Wi-Fi signal in this hotel must be the worst in Brazil, do not rely on the internet connection in this hotel because you will lose your time. Rooms don't have iron equipment and when you request one at the reception they say you could go to any near store and buy one yourself. The pool at the rooftop closes at 10pm and after a hot day in Rio you would appreciate an extended hour operation there. Now I know why this hotel was the cheaper at the Copacabana beach side: because their lobby is on maintenance and the construction is very noisy. People only speaks Portuguese.

Great staff, friendly and efficient. Lobby was bieing renovated, that's good. Rooms need to be refurbished - for example wood is worn. Nice hotel, good location. Resonable price.

I really enjoyed my two-week stay at the hotel. The staff was lovely. However, I came away with terrible bites on my body that I believe came from the mattress (bug bites that left bruises on my body (mostly arms and legs). I looked for bed bugs and did not find any. There were ants in the room. However, these were not ant bites. The only thing I can think of is that I was bitten by chiggers or some other type of skin-burrowing insect that was on the mattress. Other than that, the staff was very professional, the hotel was clean, the breakfast was great, and the staff was tremendously helpful. I hate to point out the mattress issue but some past reviews do point to bed bugs.

Experiência desagradável
Infelizmente o Hotel está precisando de reforma urgente. Áreas públicas não estão bem mantidas e o quarto necessitando de uma reforma urgente, e troca de móveis, roupas de cama e banho velhas, muito usadas. Banheiro com bolor todo em volta box do chuveiro. Não me hospedaria novamente.

The location was great the cleaning in the room is good but the bath have to be removed the mold on the shower the cleaning supply is not working. because the mold it have it’s from a long time built up of not srub right . But other than that everything’s great.

Porter service is great. However bathroom amenities is lacking; for example leaving soaps and shampoos for Two persons but we were three in yhe room. Breakfast is superb, though.

Stayed for one night and it was a perfect location literally across the street from the Copacabana beach. Great breakfast buffet better than a 5 star hotel! Front desk staff was very helpful and friendly. I would recommend it to anyone.

Loved the location, but many aspects could be better: Toiled had folded toilet paper stuck between the water tank and the wall. There was trash (like from a razor pack) inside the shower. The pillows had drools circles and smelled bad, and the one on the closets had hairs on them. The towels looked old, had holes. There was a leak from the shower that would pretty much get most of the bathroom floor wet. Personnel was inattentive and seemed mad all the time (short answers, talk over, rude to other guests) mainly at front desk and restaurant, only exceptions were bartenders and bellboys. Same breakfast options daily, and they were not good (even compared to other smaller hotels we stayed at in Brazil, like Wyndham and Estanplaza)

The hotel was very clean and our room was more than adequate. The roof top pool and sun deck were a nice touch. The bellman was particularly kind and helpful. Our stay was short, but enjoyable.

Poor room condition, poor room overall. Staff was ok, helpful when needed and friendly, but hotel overall was below expectations. I’m particular the quality of the room and bathroom.

I had a horrible experience at Hotel Astoria Palace and i had no help from Expedia whatsoever. My room had no wifi. To reach someone i had to call outside the room. I had to buy towels to use because they are old and dirty. The TV was not working properly and when i called for help, the housekeeping came later on with attitude telling me that I should know how to set up by myself. The bed has no fitedsheet and everyday i woke up sleeping on the mattress. I complained and they gave 2 flat sheets to fix the problem by myself. I called Expedia which did NOT EVEN TRY to help me getting another hotel or negociate an upgrading. I could not change hotels by myself because was holiday in Rio and everywhere around was sold out and remember, i had NO INTERNET to search. I took pictures about everything and i intent to take this to another level.

Great location. Great sized rooms. Comfy beds. My shower did leak but they cleaned my room each day. Breakfast was delicious!
