“Would definitely reccomend”

My girlfriend and I stayed here for our week long trip to Rio. It really was very nicely located in Ipanema, easy walk to Copa, ~$20 US to downtown Leblon. We were a little hesitant after reading certain reviews but they must have been very picky travelers. This place was excellent. The attached restaurant had some of the best food around too. We plan on staying here our next trip to Rio.

“All around excellence.”

Very well located in the Impanema beach area with restaurants/music/subway within three blocks . The hotel was in excellent condition, clean and comfortable with a nice breakfast.

“Old outdated and noisy”

Bad experience with noises starting at 6 in the morning, strong mold smell, outdated furniture, and 1 hours of wait for checkin .. the room was not ready until 4 pm ... Location however is great.

“Good Location”

The hotel served our needs. The location on Ipanema Beach is great. The breakfast spread was good: lots of fruit and a wide assortment of baked goods as well as other typical breakfast items. The hotel was clean, I liked the view from the pool on the roof. Very small, but serviceable gym.

Ipanema is a great neighborhood.

The hang-gliding experience was amazing and highly recommended.

“Rio is fantastic”

Hotels in RIo are not cheap in general. We are happy with most of the aspects of this hotel expect instatnt coffee was serve in the breakfast buffet.

“A good hotel or a pay by the hour motel?”

The hotel is fine, staff generally nice, rooms clean, location good Problem was they kept ruining it with money grabbing tactics. You cannot ask for an iron...they insist clothes go to housekeeping to be pressed, and at around $8 a shirt it adds up....felt like a cheap trick....they say its for safety, but consider drink copious caiparinahs by the pool fine Also, they charge for visitors to your room....not people who stay the night...at 30 Reals I thought that was crazy. Also, I don´t understand portugese...so had a knock on the door, and a call to report to front desk as though I was a criminal. Fine make visitors register so they know who is in the hotel.....but making them pay $45 (when I was alone in the room that I´d paid for 2 people)....is unacceptable.......they treated me like I´d turned up with a prostitute for a quickie......whole experience left a bad taste

“Weak”

I really don't understand this Hotel. The location is fantastic but they don't seem to be familiar with the hotel business. It smells bad the front desk is amateur and they don't care about customer satisfaction.Very expensive indeed!

“Great Location, Best Value”

The Golden Tulip Ipenema Plaza is a great value for the location - much more reasonably priced than other hotels along the strip in Ipenema. The location is perfect and there are a number of nice restaurants right within a few blocks of the hotel.

“Money well spent”

I enjoyed my stay here, the reception is 24 hours, so no problems with a late check in. The staff speak English, it is very near the beach, convenient for both Copacabana and Leblon. Also, it is a very safe area, had no problems in that area whatsoever. The street it is on is also full of bars and restuarants.
