“It was perfect for the two of us!”

Upon arrival, they did not have the room available we had booked through Expedia - it was good we had a copy of it incidentally. After some discussion they gave us an upgrade to a business class room where we had additional amenities, besides a great view of Riga from the room. We really lucked out because it made our stay just that much better! NOTE: There is a Latvian restaurant, self-serve (sort of) very close to the hotel, called Lido and it is great! You will be very satisfied with food quality and cost - it is NOT a classy place but it was also perfect for my wife and I. We found the restaurants (with service - even semi-classy) to be a bit pricey!

Area recommendations
Old Town, and it's a 15-20 minute walk from the hotel.................we went to church there and enjoyed the entire area.

“Great value and location”

Excellent value hotel in a very convenient location. Staff very friendly and helpful. Only slightly disconcerting aspect was "open plan" toilet area, albeit some privacy providede by frosted glass door and screen.

Area recommendations
This was a very good location with good rerstaurants and evening entertainment within easy reach and all parts of Old Town were within easy walking distance. Close to Embassies and Consulates this was a good location with parks and open spaces adjacent to hotel.
When to go
We went for New Year and despite heavy snow had no problem getting arouind. Traffic and public transport not affected by severe weather conditions. Suggest Spring would probably be best for getting around and appreciating architecture, open spaces, parks etc
Getting around
Very easy to walk to all main attractions and shopping.
Shopping
If you are adventurous Central Market area is a must, great fun and wide variety of goods on sale! Christmas markets in Old Town were good and some unique bargains rto be had. Supermarkets few and far between but only one department store of any note.

“5 star experience”

We loved the decor of the room, very modern. The breakfast buffet was incredible with a large selection of items to choose from. Appreciated the bottles of water offered at breakfast that we took with us on our sightseeing trips. The free internet terminal in the lobby and the ATM machine outside the hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful. It was a 5 star experience, rarely does a hotel offer this much. Choose this hotel you will not regret it.

Area recommendations
Go to the old Riga market just outside the Old City. The sweaters, mitts and socks are better priced.

“Surprising Find”

The hotel and restaurant were really nice. The breakfast was incredible with a large selection of foods. Nice relaxed atmosphere overall. I kept missing the morning housekeeping due to jetlag and there was a reminder to call if I wanted service. Very clean and located directly across the street from Riga's parks and a block away from the nightlife.

Area recommendations
The Skyline bar was nice down the street and old Riga.
When to go
Summer if you like crowds and warmer weather. My October stay eliminated the crowds but the weather was quite cold.

“Wonderful weekend in Riga”

I would definitely recommend the Radisson Blu Elizabete as it was an excellent hotel. The hotel is well located and has been refurbished to a high standard. The breakfast was good with lotsof choice from fresh fruit to traditional cooked breakfast. The beds are very comfortable - everyone in our party commented on this. We also went to the Skyline Bar and the Amber Club in the sister Radisson Latvia. I would definitely recommend visiting the Skyline Bar - the cocktails are excellent and the views stunning. We went to Riga for my husband's 50th and I would definitely return.

Area recommendations
The Old City is the main place to visit as this where the museums and squares are. The parks around the canal are lovely as well. Elizabete Street during the day is worth walking down towards the harbour to see some of the stunning architecture.
When to go
We went the last weekend in Septemeber which turned out to be Harvest Festival on the Saturday. The squares in the old town were filled with stalls of local produce and stages with people in traditional national costume with singing and dancing.
Getting around
We used Baltic Air to get from the airport to our hotel. The rates for their taxis were good and they arrnaged a minibus back to the airport for a very reasonable price.
Other
We went for my husband's 50th and I had read some of the stories on various websites before we went. I would like to say that we had no trouble whatsoever during our stay because we used our common sense. If you go to strip clubs you are going to get ripped off. If you go to the beer gardens and bars you will be fine. We all felt very safe walking around at night and during the day. The Latvian people are very reserved and they clearly love their city. There was no rubbish on the streets or dog's mess. It is very easy to understand why they would find the behavour of stag parties offensive.

“A very good hotel”

The hotel was very modern and within easy walking distance of Riga Old Town. Our room was very comfortable with twin beds. We were asked at reception whether we would like a room with carpets or a wooden floor. We chose a carpet. The bathroom had a very nice and large shower and there was a good selection of shampoo etc. The buffet breakfast was very good with a wide selection of hot and cold food. I went to the gym and it was very well appointed with almost new equipment. there were showers etc available alongside the gym. We would recommend this hotel as good value for money.

Area recommendations
Riga is well worth visiting. The Old Town has lots of fine buildings and churches to see. Whilst we were there we attended an organ recital at the Dome Cathedral and it was an uplifting experience. It is very flat so there is no difficulty in walking although some of the coble stones are uneven. There are lots of eating establishments with a variety of foods. In our opinion it is cheaper than the UK. The flower stalls are magnificent and scatted through out the area although the main market, which is beside the main railway station is worth a visit.

“Radisson ...this one less busy and as nice as its sister down the street”

The SkyBar and Casino are at the other Radisson about 1-2 blocks away and are a must visit. Make sure you specify/know which hotel you booked as both have Eliz addresses. Modern, breakfast was ok, and quite crowded but they had overflow conference rooms. The internet worked well, and the standard room was large, looked very new and fresh. I can't wait to come back to Riga!

Area recommendations
This is about 15 minutes walk from old town. But I loved staying here near the park and Art Nouveau district. It's all very walkable.
