Birthday visit to Riga.

Posted 13-Sep-2014
Decided on the Radi based on its rating on expedia, location and price. Read the reviews which stated that the hotel is next to a number of clubs but that the windows kept out the noise. Do not believe that! We were on the 6th floor and it was terrible, no sleep the first night. One review suggested that we ask for a courtyard room which we did when we checked in. We were told that it was not possible which is a bit strange considering that we complained the next day and were moved. I don't believe that they wanted to put us in a different room to begin with as they would have had to refund some of the cost. I would have been happy with no refund rather than have the first 2 days of the holiday be ruined. If you take out the noise issues then it is a basic hotel. The staff, other than one lady, were unwilling to help. There's no concierge to help you with tours or info. The restaurant offers the same basic fare every day...bland and uninspired. The upside is the location, in the old town and easy for sightseeing. However, it is also a negative as you have to put up with the huge number of stag snd hen parties. Be advised, the bars stay open to 7am on Sunday mornings. If you want a nice, quiet, hotel then there are better options.

A Great Hotel

Posted 28-May-2014
A lovely hotel in a convenient location in the old town. Everything is close by including the bus station if you want to travel further afield. Breakfast was lovely too...I disagree with other reviewers who say the breakfast is OK! Thank you for a lovely stay.

Perfect !

My husband and I had a wonderful stay at this hotel in Riga... nice large room, great breakfast, excellent and free wifi. Location perfect in Old Town right near St. Peter's church. Easy walk to all the Old Town attractions and yet not far to the "new" area. Very accommodating staff, even made a dinner reservation for us for a restaurant that is always fully booked. Highly recommend the Ragi un Draugi!

First class as always

Pros: The location, the spacious family room, the helpful staff, good breakfast buffet.
Location: Excellent location. Old Riga is beautiful. Very many bars and restaurants on your doorstep.
We have stayed here many times and always found the service and facilities excellent. The hotel is in a prime location for all places of interest; St. Peter's is literally round the corner, as is the Blackheads House. We stay in a family room, two adults and two children, and find it very comfortable. The room is very spacious and always immaculate. The staff are helpful and well informed and nothing is too much trouble. We will definitely stay again.

Good location pity about the noise

Posted 07-Dec-2013 on Hotels.com
The hotel is a short walk to all the main sights of the old town, markets and railway station. The rooms are well maintained and they even provide a tablet with internet connection free of charge. I would give the Radi un Draugi full marks other than the noise at night from the street which managed to keep us awake most of the week end, I appreciate this is beyond the Hotels control but it was a problem (They do provide you with ear plugs) the solution is to request a room away from the street. Riga has an excellent cheap transport system and a full day ticket is around £2.Most of the trams and buses stop at the end of the road.

Pros: The personal, cheerful service, the breakfast, the quality of the room furniture, especially the beds. Good WiFi and computer room.
Location: It is in Old Town, with many historical buildings. Many restaurants nearby. I especially recomment Rokkafejnica for reasonably priced food & atmospher
This hotel is an excellent value. It is in the Old Town, a World Heritage Site, close to all the major tourist attractions, as well as to the efficient and pleasant public transportation. The staff was friendly and very helpful, especially when I needed extra services, like some extra pillows and the use of computers. They even printed a hard copy of my work, free of charge. The WiFi worked well and the one time that it didn't, the problem was promptly fixed. The breakfast spread was fabulous, always fresh and served with personal smiles. The hotel is especially attractive to Latvian ex-pats, who often stay there.
