Lovely hotel, shame about the noise on last night

Posted 11-Dec-2014
Pros: Friendly staff on arrival pointing out on the map what we should see and do and where to find the Christmas markets. Nice quality breakfast.
Cons: Consider that the building cannot hold noisy parties and have guests staying at same time as there was no sound proofing.
Location: Central location in old town. Perfect for all old town sights and the Christmas markets as well as eateries.
This was a lovely hotel, located centrally in the old town. It was comfortable and well decorated, whilst not being stuffy. It was excellent value for money. Lovely breakfast, with plenty of choice between cooked or cold food and plenty of fruit which is nice. Good shower and sparkly clean bathroom. Just one issue which was such a shame because otherwise everything else was perfect: on the last night there was a party with load music in the bar/ground floor of the hotel which went on past 1am and which was very noisy. I called the reception at 12:30 to complain, as we could not sleep, but whilst apologetic, they did not do anything about it. I understand we were perhaps unlucky, but I did pay extra to come to this 4 star that looked a bit more upmarket in the hope that we could enjoy a quiet stay, away from the party animals you can find in some of the cheaper hotels in Riga, so was surprised to find this type of party in this type of hotel.

Convenient

Posted 29-Nov-2014
Pros: Convenient location
Cons: Cleanliness of rooms and internet
Location: Shopping, site seeing
Overall my stay at the hotel was pleasant. The staff while accommodating did not always follow-up on requests. My room was adequate but nothing like the pictures portrayed on the hotel website and the internet was almost non-existent.

Nice hotel base for a city exploring break

Posted 08-Nov-2014
Stayed for 3 nights, was really quiet and unpopulated which is ideal for me. i love being able to experience the place without too many other tourists, hotel staff were very nice and helpful. Restaurant was very nice and room had great amenities, very centrally positioned for exploring the city, would certainly recommend for business or pleasure.

In the old town, yet still quiet on Saturday night

Posted 01-Nov-2014
Pros: Location, Food, Friendly Desk staff
Cons: Breakfast could be served a bit earlier, to make it possible to eat at a leisurely pace before going to the 9:30 flight.
The hotel is in a great location, the staff are very freindly and attentive. Working hard to go the extra mile to ensure your stay is as pleasant as possible. The deks staff in particular take great care to ensure you get excellent instructions for finding your way throught the maze of streets in the old town, and also give very good advice on finding the type of venue you are looking for. From a gourmet restaurant to a quick and pleasant pizza.

Adventure Vs Standard Comfort

Posted 31-Oct-2014
When we travel we either go for local adventure or the standard big names. I'm getting older and after a long trip. I don't feel like taking a chance on my comfort and sleep. Riga is about halfway on a very long trip from Russia home to the U.S. I make it every few months now. I must have been in adventure mode the first time I stayed here. I'm sure I wanted to see the best of Riga then. That was three years ago. This is the only hotel I consider. The staff are professional and friendly. Like most of the young people in Riga they speak Latvian, Russian, and flawless English. They take very good care of the customers here!

Enjoyable stay

Posted 16-Sep-2014 on Hotels.com
My only problem was that when I arrived my room appeared too hot. I tried to adjust the air conditioning but returned later to find it had done nothing to help. I asked for someone to look at it and the hotel sent up an engineer very promptly but although the engineer thought the air con was working properly I still found the room slightly too warm throughout my stay with the air con constantly set to on. Apart from this a very enjoyable stay. Helpful desk staff; good location; good breakfast.
