Nice hotel base for a city exploring break

Posted 08-Nov-2014
Stayed for 3 nights, was really quiet and unpopulated which is ideal for me. i love being able to experience the place without too many other tourists, hotel staff were very nice and helpful. Restaurant was very nice and room had great amenities, very centrally positioned for exploring the city, would certainly recommend for business or pleasure.

In the old town, yet still quiet on Saturday night

Posted 01-Nov-2014
Pros: Location, Food, Friendly Desk staff
Cons: Breakfast could be served a bit earlier, to make it possible to eat at a leisurely pace before going to the 9:30 flight.
The hotel is in a great location, the staff are very freindly and attentive. Working hard to go the extra mile to ensure your stay is as pleasant as possible. The deks staff in particular take great care to ensure you get excellent instructions for finding your way throught the maze of streets in the old town, and also give very good advice on finding the type of venue you are looking for. From a gourmet restaurant to a quick and pleasant pizza.

Adventure Vs Standard Comfort

Posted 31-Oct-2014
When we travel we either go for local adventure or the standard big names. I'm getting older and after a long trip. I don't feel like taking a chance on my comfort and sleep. Riga is about halfway on a very long trip from Russia home to the U.S. I make it every few months now. I must have been in adventure mode the first time I stayed here. I'm sure I wanted to see the best of Riga then. That was three years ago. This is the only hotel I consider. The staff are professional and friendly. Like most of the young people in Riga they speak Latvian, Russian, and flawless English. They take very good care of the customers here!

Perfect Location. Great Place!

Posted 16-Aug-2014 on Hotels.com
This is a boutique hotel with modern, spacious rooms with all the conveniences right in the center of the active downtown. Absolutely no negatives whatever. Near the railroad, buses, waterfront, esplanade, cafes, and shopping. Pleasant service.

A couple stayed in early August 2014

Posted 05-Aug-2014
Pros: Nice location, close to Old Town. And it was quiet at night.
Cons: The room-service along three days did not supply shampoo. Asking the receptionist to help with extra shampoo did not help either.
Miniature room and tiny bathroom with tired furniture and rubbish floor.

Perfectly located for a city visit.

Posted 02-Aug-2014
Pros: Friendly staff, location.
Cons: Minor repairs, replace some room carpets.
Location: Brilliant for sightseeing, shops, and theatre / nightlife.
Hotel location as mentioned is excellent. Front of house, bar and restaurant staff were all very efficient and helpful and sadly had to make up for my lack of ability with the Latvian language (all were English proficient) Had bed and breakfast fare, the food was of a good standard and plentiful selection (though chef needs to learn to fry bacon) ordered an item at 10:30 in the evening from the bar menu, the food presented was exceptional for the price (impressed). Room comfort was good but cleanliness could be improved with carpet renovation and slight repair work to the bathroom bath/shower seal which allowed water to leak through to the floor (this has happened over time as evidence suggests but its simple repair work that can make all the difference) and need attention.

Excellent hotel in great location for the Old Town

Posted 02-Aug-2014
Pros: Rooms were well equipped, staff were friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was superb.
Location: The hotel is near the heart of the old town. Highlights for us were a city walking tour, and the views from the top of the tower at St Peter's Church.
We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The rooms were clean and well equipped, with a good range of toiletries etc. There was an excellent range of food at the buffet breakfast, and a good choice of evening meals. The hotel is in a narrow street, so there are no great views, but it takes only a few minutes to walk into the heart of the old town and the river, or to the station and the market. A half-hour train journey takes you to a long sandy beach at Jurmala.

Great hotel in the middle of the old town

Great place. In the middle of town but not noisy. Room lovely. Air conditioning brilliant. Breakfast delicious. Bathroom not cleaned as carefully as I should have liked, but you can't have everything.
