Good but limited internet.

Service good. Location excellent. Room excellent. BUT, lack of internet wired or wireless in the rooms on 7th floor was unexpected and made the stay less productive.

Hotel in the centre of the old city

Posted 24-Mar-2014
Pros: Staff helpful and courteous, rooms modern but some with Medieval survivals
Cons: Provision of tea-making facilities
Location: Good and central - 5min from the opera house.
Excellent hotel for a long weekend, absolutely first class - except no tea-making facilites for the British, and basement restaurant has little atmosphere - but plenty of good restarrants around.

Middle of old part of Riga

Posted 21-Dec-2013
Great one night experience conveniently located in the middle of their old town. Plan for a parking space if renting a car. I'm sure hotel staff can help you. The price for meals in Riga are low!

In the heart of Riga & close to everything!

Posted 12-Nov-2013
Cons: Better Wi-fi coverage in the rooms
If you are looking for a comfortable, top notch hotel in the heart of the "Old Town" District, look no further. We received what we felt was a very reasonable rate for a great room. If you can request it, ask for a room with a "historical wall". We were offered this and to have an ancient wall decorating the room really added to the ambiance & value of the room. Breakfast was served daily in the restaurant downstairs and included all the usual suspects (variety of hot & cold items) as well as the bonus of made to order coffee. The bar staff were always very pleasant & quick to serve. The real treat of this hotel is it's location. It is located a quick 5 minute walk from the bus station, and the Zeppelin Hanger Market right next door. If you need groceries or other items, there is a grocery store (Rimi I think) right across the street in the mall. No where in the Old Town area is any farther than a 10-15 minute walk. Your only stretch will be the Art Deco District at a 20 or so minute walk, but that can't be helped as it is outside the Old Town District. But do go if you enjoy architecture as it is a treat! The only negatives would be that the bed was a little firm for me, but my wife found it very comfy. It's not bad or hard by any means but I am a little picky. And also we found that the Wi-Fi did not work in our room. It wasn't that big of a deal but if you need to stay connected, request that in your reservation. All in all, an experience that exceede

Modern hotel right in the middle of the old town

Posted 05-Nov-2013
Room was decent size and everything you could need including fridge and hair dryer. Bathroom was clean and shower had good pressure. We were there in November and room was toasty! Hotel staff were helpful when we needed extra pillows. Hotel bar was nice although there are cheaper places to drink in the old town! It is easy and very cheap to get to the hotel by city bus 22 from the airport (only 0.50 lat!). Not far to walk at all. Breakfast was typical Eastern European breakfast fare - nothing amazing but edible! Riga was a great little city to visit for a city break - enjoy!

Pros: Breakfast Buffet is great
Cons: More English TV channels in the rooms.
Location: Really great central location. Also an easy drive into, and out of, Old Town - which for some other hotels can be very confusing!
We stay here pretty frequently. This time the room was a little close to the Alus Bar next door so we got the music until late in the evening. The room (#403) was a little tired but fine. I would recommend a few extra TV channels in English -German and Italian were well represented so a few extra English entertainment channels would be nice. The breakfast buffet is excellent and the staff at the front desk, front door, bar were all really helpful and nice. The location of the hotel cannot be better but, make arrangement for parking before arrival if driving. The parking lot around the corner is frequently full with long-term renters - Oh, the daily rate there is 15 Lats vice 15 USD as listed on Expedia...but that does make a substantial difference. All-in-all, the Hotel is a great place to stay - and we choose to stay there frequently.

Great hotel in the middle of the old city

Posted 04-Nov-2013
Pros: Everything - the restaurant in particular
Cons: A kettle & coffee making facilities in the room would have been good.
Location: The location was perfect for exploring the old city. The opera house was just around the corner with events on most nights.
I took my son for a night trip to Riga staying in the Old City Boutique Hotel and we were very happy with the hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. We had a good sized tv with lots of channels; a desk & 2 chairs in addition to the beds & wardrobe. The en-suite was good - a powerful hairdryer included. It was good to see a bath as well as a shower - shower was powerful too. Breakfast was a buffet style with plenty of choice - from eggs & bacon to cereal and a traditional European spread. We ate in the restaurant on the first night and the food and service were first class. There was a comfy reception area connected to the bar and staff were happy for you to sit there after you had checked out - there was also a computerised "where to?" guide in additon to a computer in the reception area for the use of guests.

Nice hotel in middle of old town!

This is the fourth time that we have stayed at this location. In the middle of down town next to mall, restaurants and historical places. Staff was very helpful.
