“very impressed with hotel”
Room very clean and comfortable, staff friendly, good range of food choice for breakfast. Would have liked tea/coffee facility in room. Exellent location would highly recomend this hotel
“Great Option and Great Value!”
Really great hotel with a great location, walkable from train and bus stations, yet very much in the heart of things in old Riga. Extremely friendly and welcoming staff. Very comfortable, modern and spacious rooms. Would definitely recommend.
“Old City Boutique Hotel in Rega”
Ilona and Michael were very pleasant and helpful welcoming us to the hotel and getting us settled. The location was excellent with shopping nearby, and the Market and Old Town within easy walking distance. Even the bus station was a manageable walk. Our room was rather small, but we managed.
“A Pearl within a Pearl”
Riga is a beautiful little city, with the accent on little. As the national capital, it has its business and residential districts, but the Old City is smaller than many housing estates, and right at the heart of it lies the Old City Boutique Hotel. Boutique hotels are supposed to be small, sophisticated, and smart, and this hotel measures up well. The reception area, with lounge and access to a well-stocked bar, is smartly done out with dark walls and black suede settees, lit by huge windows and immense, beehive-shaped lamps. Rooms are comfortable and quiet, and are kept sparkling clean at all times. Staff are attentive without being pushy, and nothing is too much trouble when it comes to providing a home-from-home for guests. Breakfast offers sufficient choice to provide daily variety, while lunches and dinners provide a limited but interesting range of local and international fare. With everything, including a shopping mall, restaurants, and bars within walking distance, you can experience Riga’s many attractions without paying bus or taxi fares. The airport is about a 20-minute taxi ride away, and it’s best to buy a standard-priced 10-lat Baltic Taxi ticket to avoid haggling with drivers outside. Beautifully appointed, centrally located, the Old City is a pearl of a hotel within a pearl of a city.
“Quiet and conveniently located”
Conveniently located in the Old Town for all Riga's sights yet quiet, with an adequate breakfast buffet that would have benefitted from some additions eg fresh, good quality bread. Our twin room (in the older part of the hotel) was satisfactory but a few touches (proper curtains that kept out the light from the bulb outside our room, tea/coffee making facilities, aircon, a full length shower, a bedside table) would have made it that bit more comfortable.
“Good hotel but beware of the rooms you get”
Overall hotel was good value, well maintained, good facilities and helpful staff. Would have given a higher rating if not been put in the particular room we were. Therefore we can only recommend it if you avoid rooms 101 to 104 and two other rooms which I presume were 105 and 106. These all have windows over the bar area which is in a sort of atrium. Turned out not to be an issue in late evening despite also being bar area for restaurant but, woken every morning by beer barrels being moved. Smaller criticisms were "classic" rooms are as small as you could make them and while the bed was good to sleep in it had sharp wooden corners you will definitely catch your feet on given size of room. However rooms had good decor and facilities like hairdryer, television, iron, safe and plenty of hangers. Hotel was well maintained and staff really helpful with good restaurant and internet access. Note Hotel has cheap airport transfer arrangement with Riga taxi's. I suspect any hotel in old town is close to where you need to be but, we found this an excellent location off a side street with no restaurants with outside seating (that would be noisy) but, right by a nice shopping mall, transport and main square. Worth looking at 1221 (book to get roof terrace) and Neiburgs restaurants. Worth considering intelitours trip to Rundale Palace, went by car, good guide, also visited castle and small motor museum. book online or at tourist office.
“Good value in first class location”
Impressed. Made to feel welcome on arrival (and given a room upgrade). The hotel is located right in the heart of the old town and is very convenient for sight-seeing and for bars/restaurants. The room was comfortable though not huge and the underfloor heating in the shower room was a nice touch. Staff were pleasant and efficient throughout. Only minor gripe would be that the breakfast is pretty standard fare and therefore does not quite match the level achieved elsewhere. Will certainly return if/when I am next in Riga and would warmly recommend to others as very good value for money.
“Good Hotel in Old Riga”
my wife and i spent 4 nights in this hotel inn old riga. (early May) excellent location, very helpful staff, good breakfast, room very quiet & comfortable. riga lovely place for city brak. some good excursions taken on public transport .Train taken to Majori in Jurmala region. also took tram out to Mezeparks area. All bars restuarants serving good quality food at very reasonable prices. There was also a Harvester type restaurant chain called LIDO. very cheap & quality fod done in a Latvian way. Overal experience - excellent. p.s weather was superb!!
“Badly disappointed in Old City Boutique Hotel”
We dcame to this hotel having read e good reviews. Sadly disappointed. We came by bus (Luxbus—very good) from Tallinn. The hotel has spent a lot on pretentious gewgaws, but is chintzy on necessities. Example: no Kleenex or shower cap, the slippers and bathrobes are 10 Euros extra. A call to the front desk (what is Kleeenex?) produced an open half-used box of Kleenex. Tacky curtains, mirror in the room, chandelier, fake Tuscany ambiance and colors, but limited storage space, poor, small old TV. Cheap pictures on wall, no place to put luggage ( room too small.), only one chair, uncomfortable bathroom, (good bathtub and shower.) The toilet seat does not stand up, no place to put things down, no shelves . Towel’s quality very poor. There is a sign in the bathroom: “a penalty to sit on the ledge (a useless space beyond the bathtub, the only place to put things on, but gets wet with a shower) is 100 Littas.” Room instruction: “we are not responsible for loss of valuables”, however, no safe in the room, no “do not disturb sign”. Our room was in a second house (you had to go outside to get to the house.). No fitted bed sheet, sheet just slides off the mattress. Only two glasses in the bathroom, none in room, there is a bar/refrigerator in the room with plenty of space. Free wireless in room. Breakfast: Most things on cheap side. (Espresso, not bad.) No fish, tiny pieces of cheeses. Fruit, a limited selection of yoghurts, no nuts of any kind. All on the cheap…
